Hi everyone. I was trained in Shellac and in the beginning when I first started doing manicure found some of my clients (friends mostly) their shellac chipped in some nails. After some time this problem stopped so I assumed it was my pep. Recently I tried the duraforce top coat and after 2 days my friend called me to tell me that 4 nails was chipped 3 in one hand and 1 from the other. What do you think this happened again. Thank you.

Gel polish chips. It's not cement and if you have confidence in your service you don't need to hold an investigation every time someone chips their nail coating.

If a client raises this issue be friendly, self assured and put the responsibility for maintaining their nails on them!

Are you charging full price & charging for repairs from these friends?

Hi thanks for your replies I am charging slightly less than the salon prices around in my region.

I don't charge when it is pretty fresh and seems that is my application not very good.

Is it only one person that is having issues with the duraforce top coat?

It is the first time I used it and thought it is duraforce I thought would be very strong.I might put a very thick top coat.

Maybe try it again making sure the top coat isn't too thick.

I did it again today will see how it goes.Thank you

Hey Chreina :) Can I ask if you are using the 5 point polish method? I find many people have chipping because they over cap the extension edge or they have a lip of product at the extension edge and the 5 point polish method eliminates these problems :)

Hi thanks for your reply,I do actually trying to use the 5 point I do cap the free edge, what do you mean by lip of product? thank you

Do you cap the free edge last or first?

It's comment to have an excess ring of product at the extension edge from trying to touch up a shrinking colour, or capping the free edge last, if you look at the nail from the side you would see a slight bump all around the tip of the nail which would cause chipping and lifting :)

I do cap last,so is it better to cap first?

yes :) then with all other strokes you are pulling excess product off the nail :)

Well back again, this time was ok so blame it on my pep. Thank you very much for all your help.
