Hello!

Just wondered if anyone could give me some advice please as its a Saturday and I can't ring sweet squared!

I was just half way through a shellac pedi and the lamp switched itself off and started buzzing. The display lights were all still on. I flicked it back on, all the bulbs came on and 2 seconds later it turned itself off and started buzzing again.

Has anyone had any experience of this? I've had to cancel all my shellac clients for the rest of the day!
Thanks in advance x

Oh no doesn't sound good :( Might be worth checking the fuse in the plug?

No idea what the buzzing noise is but how long have you had your bulbs ? have they reached the end of their 100hours life ?

Sounds like your lamp it telling you to change your bulbs.

Change them ( I hope you have your back-up set) and then press the reset button until it reads 100 hours again. If you don't do this last step, your lamp wont work until you do. Great feature of the lamp!

I changed my lamp bulbs a couple of months ago, my old bulbs had been in for 8 months with 57 hours left. I pressed my reset button with the new bulbs and it still said 57 hours. I have since used my lamp and have had no problems but it is now saying 25 hours. Have I done something wrong then?

I am confused, why would you change your bulbs when they still had 57 hours on them ?

Yes, Jo, you have.

You have changed your bulbs before you needed to. We recommend simply that you turn your bulbs at 50 hours so you are using a new side. Just turn them .. nothing more.

Instead you replaced them with new bulbs and You have not held the reset button down long enough for the hours to reset to 100 so ... now you will be in a bit of a muddle knowing just where you are at with your new bulbs and how much life they have left in them!
Even though you have approximately 70 hours left in the life of your new bulbs, your lamp will now stop working in 25 hours and you will have to reset it again, and then it will say 100 hours but your bulbs in fact will not be effecting a full cure after 50 .. complicated. I would make a note and track what is happening and make sure you do not use them after the 50 mark when you have reset them ... does that make any sense to you? (hope my calculations are right :Scared:)

I changed them because 2 of my shellac nails peeled off and so a few of my clients of which hadnt had problems before and they were the same nails as mine so I presumed one of the bulbs had gone. Once I changed all was ok again. I also read on here they had to be changed either after 100 hours or every 6 months.

Thanks Geeg I have noted the day I changed them so all I was going to do was replace them in 6 months time, I hardly ever have problems with my shellac and have such faithful clients. I will keep an eye and when changing for new bulbs will make sure I reset it correctly, thanks for the advice.

Just turn the bulbs after 50 hours or so, so that you are working on a nice clean side that is not covered in gel bits etc. and you will not need to change the bulbs until your 100 hours are up, huni!

It is a good precautionary measure to make sure clients are getting the best you can give them. :)

Will do thanks.

i'm investing in the CND lamp in a few weeks time but up until this point ive had to make a note of when Ive changed them, which isnt all that acurate unles i make a note at the end of each day of how much ive used it , I was told that a way to check your bulbs are OK is they should be the same white all the way through, if there dark at the base its a sign they need changing.

Fortunately you will no longer have to do that. The CND lamp will stop working when the bulbs have passed their effectiveness ... Until you change them and re-set the timer. No guess work. But good on you for being so careful.

Yup it was one of the things that appealed to me when I was doing my research on a replacement lamp, plus the fact that I want to add shellac to my future treatments :)

Where are you and what voltage are you working on in the country where you are? The CND lamp bought in the USA will be 110 Volts. In the UK it is 240 V and will fry your US lamp. In Europe it is 220 and will also fry the US lamp. You have to have voltage converter/transformer to use a US lamp abroad. Using a plug adapter does not change the voltage. New Lamp, I'm afraid. It was buzzing to tell you that you were using the wrong voltage.

Whoa. You are lucky you did not destroy it! A good sign. X

I'm on my 3rd lamp in 2.5 years! I've been using Shellac since the beginning and my first lamp died after 1 year because the plug socket in the lamp fell inside and couldn't be used. My second lamp died after 1 year when it started to make a crackling noise and the bulbs (only 50hrs used) stopped working 1 by 1.

I'm now nervously using my 3rd one, every day I live in fear that it too will die. Not sure what to do if it does though because Ketan and CND London were my rock.

Has anyone else had more than 2 lamps in such a sort period of time?

Karaxxx
