I've just colored over my intense level 7 copper Hair with a level 4 brown. (colour history is below if that's helpful) Problem is that, as I suspected it would, I'm getting a copper reflect now as the 4 fades down. I don't want that. Ideally I'd like to be a cool level 5 all over with enough blonde foils through the top half to give the impression of dark blonde on top, I only put the 4 on with the plan of removing it later when I figured out what I wanted to do.

In the past, I've been able to easily go from a level 4 to a level 9 at home in 24 hours by using One 'n Only's Colorfix so I'm confident that would remove the brown, I'm just not sure if it would budge the copper. I don't want to Effasor again, it fried my hair and I had to cut 8 inches off whereas Colorfix didn't damage it at all.

What do you think? Should I remove the colour to create a cleaner base for when I go to the salon? Or have I made my copper bed and now I have to lie in it?

Thanks for any advice!

Ok, so here's a bit of my colour history:

Natural 5 level, almost a 6. Throw a lot of gold.

Condition: extremely porous through midlengths and ends, some ends are "fried" from bleaching.

March 2011-October 2011- after an initial Effasor, I had my 5.2 level hair brought to an 8.2 shade via full head foils every 10 weeks with the 8 level inbetween. Was a kind of balayage technique so parts of my hair where 9-10 level (the ends) My goal was to be a 10 in time, but I got distracted.

October 2011-March 2012:
All-over intense copper every 3 weeks, specifically Majirel 7.40 + 7.44 + copper mix.

March 2012: my hair was so porous to begin with that I was essentially washing money down the drain along with my copper every time I shampooed. So I impulsively colored over it myself (to save cash as you do) with a level 4 while I figure out what I want to do.
