Hi there I've never posted before so I'm sorry if I do this wrong... I went on holiday for 3 weeks in June and my good friend and client decided to do her own roots with a box dye which suprisingly didn't look too bad so she said she was happy to do her own roots from now on as it's cheaper (allthough I give her a big discount!)
Anyway I got a message yesterday morning with a photo attached of her poor hair with black ends and orange roots and of course she wants me to fix it !!!
If this was anyone else I wouldn't do it, I've only said yes because she's a good friend. ..

So this is her colour story ..

Natural base 7
I foiled her hair for 2 years which was very blonde but then in april this year she took the plunge to go dark , which I prepigged and took her to a 5/75 in wella which looked beautiful.
I did her hair up until I went on holiday.
She put a flat 5 box dye on which went quite dark and then she's put another different make (loreal box dye mousse she says) on her roots and ends which has turned the hair black and orange .. il attach the pic she sent me. Her desired result is a flat 5 with no red (wishful thinking )

So after all that I've taken some test cuttings last night and there doesn't seem to be any metallic salts present. I've put a bleach bath mixture on one piece with 6% and it's lifted to a browny red/orange Base 5 /6 the condition feels ok.

I use wella and am planning to lift the black hair to a 5/6 and depending on the result use the correct special mix in with my Base 5 to xounteract the unwanted tone.

Am I correct in thinking that 0/22 can be used with the Base to xounteract red and 0/88 for Orange ? And also can the special mixes be added to the 5/0 or is it just the doubles (55/0)
I know that the doubles are for resistant hair but in my head I think I've heard someone say before that special mixes are for double numbers ?

1 last thing. For the orange roots I'm planning on applying a 5 with a touch of /88 .

Any advice will be appreciated so much I did colour correction at college 3 years ago and have only done about 5 since I left and usually just do nice simple colours on regular clients with the odd ombre thrown in lol.

If I've missed anything let me know.

Thanks xxx

Also the pic doesn't show the true colour the roots are very orange in real life xxx

At least now you know she won't be colouring her own hair again!

I'd use colour touch after lightening, its gentler, shinier and it won't fade as fast.

Special mix can be mixed with anything in the koleston perfect range.

You won't achieve a flat 5 if you only lift to a 5, i feel you'd need to get it to an orange and then use something like 5/1 with 0/88.

Or you could even use illumina 6/19 or 5/81, or both! Illuminas lovely and shiny too!

Thanks so much for your advice I used ct 5/1 with a smidge of /88 after lifting and it didn't throw off any coppery or red tones she loved it !! Looked so shiny and full of life lol xx
