Hi all,

Im not a hairdresser and I used to have very dark brown / black box died hair. I used that colour b4 remover from boots and it has lightened it a bit to a dark reddy brown. I want to go to my local salon to either have it lightened to put a starker red colour on or have highlights in it but my hairdresser is a bit dubious as she has never come across a customer that has used colour b4 before. The dye I used to use was excell 10 and i have been told that this is prone to reoxidising. I didnt know if any of you professionals have ever had any experience of clients that have used colour b4 and whether they have been able to use peroxide on their hair afterwoods.

Sorry for the rambling

Zoe

First thing I would do is CHANGE HAIRDRESSERS.
For a stylist to be unfamiliar with previously colored hair is a major red flag. In all my years of hairdressing, it is RARE to come across a client with virgin hair. This includes men and children. She has no idea what she is doing, therefore I would run, not walk to another salon and look for someone qualified.
It wont be hard to locate someone.

i think the op means the stylists worried about the fact that she's used a home colour stripper called b4 colour not that she has coloured hair. but maybe i would go to a couple more salons for there advice, they may be prepared to do incompatability tests etc on it and decide from there if they're willing to colour your hair. Hth. X

iim going to go for a strand test at the weekend. Just wished id never used it. My hair looked ginger at first but has now gone back to the dark reddy brown. Just want my hair a shade or two lighter :)
