Hi, this is my first post so please be gentle with me and its a bit long!!:)

I am a qualified hairdresser but haven't worked in a salon for years and am looking for a little bit of guidance as I haven't done a colour correction for a long while.

My friend was colouring her own hair with L'oreal casting (don't know what the colour was but it was a warm brown/base 4), she then redid it and ended up with black lengths. She must have picked up the wrong colour as it's now about a base 1-2. Next she decided to go red with schwartkopf live which obviously didn't change the lengths but gave her a lovely glow at the roots!

I have coloured the roots 4.3 so they blend in more but they are obviously still lighter than the mid lengths and ends. The underneath layers aren't as bad as she just concentrated on the front and top layers.

I did try a weak bleach bath to try and shift some of the black but there was very little impact and I have shortend up the top layers but there is still a good 6 inches of it left.

She ultimately wants to be Majirel 6.23 but would be over the moon to just have one colour to all her hair! I'm now thinking of using effacsor on the lengths to get this build up out and the colouring it again. I know I can't let this touch the roots so can't realistically get her as light as 6 because she's has 4.3 on them, what would you do???

Many thanks
Tara

hi there,

From what i've read on these forums and also personal experience, you will have almost no luck getting the schwartkopf live colour out of your friends hair.
It apparently contains silicone which when followed by hair irons gets sealed into the hair putting up an impossible barrier for any bleach or colour remover to break through.
I have had a few clients that have used this colour, i as of yet i have been unable to remove it.
If any other geekers could tell me a way round this that would be great !!!!!!!
