Hi guys! I have a human hair wig I'm wishing to dye. I got it custom made, however it turned out lighter then I expected. This is the wig colour I have:

The colour I'm trying to achieve is a dark dirty blonde/light beige brown hair. In fact! I have a picture of what I am trying to achieve

I absolutely adore this colour. The dyes I have access to are clairol, fudge headpaint and indola, and I'm assuming I use these with vol 10. If anyone can assist with colour help, I'd certainly appreciate it. I've never really done my own dye jobs, but I have watched a lot of YouTube tutorials (I'm going to trying ombréing the colour in, and foiling some pieces in) so I would love some assistance, anything is helpful.

Thank you in advance.

Are you a hairdresser?

No :) just someone who's not happy with the colour I received on a wig I had made.

Okay well i'm sorry but i wouldn't advise you to colour it yourself. Especially not a lace wig as you can cause staining. Messing with chemicals isn't a good idea. Plus site rules state we aren't allowed to give consumers advice regarding chemicals. Take the wig to a reputable salon and have them colour it.

I did watch a YouTube tutorial on how to stop your wig getting stained(using got2b glued), but I guess I don't understand the chemical part.

Hair used in wigs will have already undergone several very strong chemical treatments before you received it. If you treat it just like normal human hair with standard colour chemicals, you will likely ruin it.

Can you return it to the supplier explaining that the colour isn't what you were expecting/had ordered?

Also, the colour on the picture you've attached isn't one shade. If you look closely at a small section, you should see several different tones in there. The wig hair you have has been uniformly coloured. If you want variation, you will need to find a good colourist with experience of colouring treated hair. Don't use an inexperienced hairdresser!

Thanks for the assistance!! I'm thinking I might purchase another wig, and find someone who does custom/requested colours. I'm not upset with the colour, I quite like it, just a little too light and blonde for me. I really wanted that in between brown and a blonde colour. Is there any recommended places out there for full laced wigs?

Did you have it made by a specialist hairdresser and have a face to face consultation? When my mum got her "good wig" ie not the nhs one it was a mega lengthy process but the lovely man who arranged it all coloured it to match my mum's own hair colour exactly from when she still had her own hair (the whole process was around £800 but worth every penny)
You need to either send it back if u ordered online or take it back to whoever made it and ask them to colour it. I'm not sure if many hairdressers would have the experience in wigs to adjust this otherwise it's a seriously specialist area xxx
