My mum has had Wella 6/77 on her hair for the last 10 years she’s 70 now and I feel it’s a bit dark for her so I’m planning to use a bleach bath to drop her one shade. I feel I’m over thinking the colour part but I need some help she’s 90% grey at her roots ( 1 inch regrowth and I’m presuming after I’ve lightened her hair it will be a very warm level 7 so I’m thinking of mixing equal parts of 77/0 with 7/7, can I put this on root to tip or will I get banding ?

I think to bleach bath is a bit extreme to just go one shade lighter.

I would use the 6,77 and add some highlights.

You shouldn't mix double base with a fashion colour, they are supposed to be used alone or with special mix only.

I'd do a full head of highlights with kp 10/0 +12% and then use 7/7 on root +6%

Why use a level 10 with 12% just to lift one level?
Wouldn’t you use bleach with 3% to lift it up a bit, then tone accordingly?

That's also another option, I just find with kp 10/0 +12% it lifts through colour, eradicates any banding and gives a softer blonde, without the harsh "bleached" look, and without the need to tone. With bleach and tone the toner will fade, leaving the client with an undesired colour in a few weeks. Bleach and tone is double processing, more product, more time = more expensive for the client too.
But hey it's only a suggestion, she can do whatever she prefers. I have done bleach and tone plenty of times in this instance aswell.

Its great to learn other’s techniques and that’s something I wouldn’t have tried doing myself, so fair play.
