Hi.
When colouring extensions you can only colour one to two shades down (never up), so you need to first make sure you have a closest colour to the target shade as possible. If I am colouring extensions red, I usually use hair with a red tone already in it.
You only need to use 3% and your target shade. As you are choosing hair close to your target shade, there is no need to re-pig.
Lay the hair on a trolley or a large piece of card and paint the colour on vertically first, then horizontally. Flip the hair over and repeat, making sure the hair is covered and avoiding any bonds, if it is pre-bonded.
You need to process the hair for HALF the normal processing time, normally 15 mins is long enough. Once processed, rinse and shampoo using the recommended extension shampoo and conditioner. Make sure the hair is fully dried before you fit it.
Good quality hair extensions colour beautifully and retain the colour twice as long as head hair, so bear this in mind, as the clients own hair will fade before the extensions.
