New to salon geek - and wow what a great source of advice and info.

I'm am not currently trained in any beauty area but looking at doing spray tan training, I'm currently a self-employed freelance designer, so this is something to do along side my current workload to help with saving for the mortgage :o)

Wanted to know who best to train with, and after reading the many threads can see that it might not make that much difference who I train with as can change product to what I find I like. Although have a short list of sienna x, suntana, nouvatan and sunless solutions to research, if anyone has any additional info on which one of these they like and why would b greatly received :o)

Thinking the main thing I need to decide is the equipment, so what machine is best for start up, mobile business, what reliability and great result?

Plus I think I would like to train with the equipment I intend to use so this will be a big deciding factor.

Thanks in advance geeks

X

I use Fake Bake and all of their equiptment. I also did my training with them, and it was fab. The products are fab and the tan itself looks amazing. Defo worth spending a bit more money to get a great product.

Ok, so during research...have got more questions, does it matter who is the accredited body? Or just that it is accredited is enough? Noticed those I'm looking at are BABTAC or the guild (sienna x courses say both :))

Looking at machines as I want to purchase the machine I'm going to be learning with so think to start its best to go with the one the company offers. The TS20 and TS50 come up a lot, both nouvatan and sienna x sell these, are they any good and is it worth spending money on better one?

Is the maximist lite and xl that suntana offer a similar machine to TS20/TS50 just with different branding? Which is better?

I couldn't fault my Sienna x training and my ts20 is fab 2 years and never had a single problem (touching wood right now) HTH xxx

Hiya, it's important that the course you train with is accredited of course, whether that's through Babtac or the guild is a matter of choice really, both bodies will gain you valid and creditable insurance.
At SunlessSolutions all our courses are accredited by Babtac.
At the moment if you buy our new "tan in tent" ( see the Eds news piece in the all singing all dancing inflatable, machine washable tent!!) you get your training free.
Feel free to pm me or Tonilee if you have any further queries on spray tan training
Xx

I would say don't buy your kit from the company that you're going to train with as I think they're really overpriced, and you get a lot of stuff you don't need. I bought my machine from Suntana - really reasonable and a fab machine, trained with fake bake which turned my daughter green - not a greeny brown, shrek green and they had loads of supply issues at the time, so I opened my new spray tan machine - maximist - middle price - poured in a sample from suntana (free with the machine) and haven't looked back. The first client I did I oversprayed and it was all a bit dribbly, but she texted me the next day saying "This tan is awesome" all the patchy bits evened out and she was thrilled. Good luck x

Looking a bit of advice. .. I have the piglet machine for spray tanning and its had better days after 6 years of giving no bother but just a little grubby and buttons worn and would like to upgrade it. What would people best recommend ?
