What level was the hair before applying? Was it natural or tinted?

Think I need to do 8.44 n 8 on the root with 6% does anyone think ?

Why are you wanting to use 6%? If the base is already lighter and has less tonal quality than you want to achieve you don't need 6%, this creates lift and distorts tone hence you getting root glow.
You need to go back in with 2parts 8/44 + 1 part 8/00 and 3% or even 1.9%

Thanks what I have done today thanks it’s fine now
