hi all im new to this!
iv been a hairdresser for a few years but now looking to do bridal hair the only problem i am having is getting my curls to stay in on longer hair.i have tried everything i have brought bigger barrels tongs lots of hair spray smaller sections can any1 give me some tips and some great products to finishing the hair thank you xxx:)

Hi

I have been a hairdresser for 12 yrs now .

Using big curlers on long hair wil not keep the curl in, as the hair is long the weight of the hair will pull them down.

I do bridal hair aswell and what works for me is getting the client not to wash her hair on the day, do it the morning before.

best curl would be using the GHD, they give you a very tight curl and does not drop quickly, infact sometimes you find it stays in till the following day.

also try using small sections and tongs, make sure really hot and while curled around the tong spray some hairspray over, but keep quite a distance from the hair, or your curls will be hard.

you could also try medium size rollers, put in when the hair is damp and then under a dryer, or if doing at home dry on a low setting with a hair dryer. While the rollers are in put spray over them, not much tho.

Finish off with a gloss spray.

Hope this helps

:)

I'm not a hair pro but have a nightmare with curls falling out, the only thing that works for me is my trusty old gas tongs, I wash hair day before I'm curling it, before curling it I put shockwaves mousse thru let it dry, then use vo5 max hold hairspray all over, gently brush it, then spray each section before tonging, then spray each layer before stating on the next. once hair is done spray upside down the again when I flip hair back up hth xx

thanks ladie no i always tell them wash hair day before and i use medium heated roller by barrel i ment size of tongs lol eg:25mm i will try your tips and see how i go thank you x:lol:

For me its GHD s all the way. For weddings and special occasion hair, as well as client wasing the day before i set in heated rollers first. Helps with longevity of hair style. After each curl try wrapping round finger while still warnm and clip with a pin curl grip , then let down at the end . A good spritz of hair spray to set . x

I use the ghds then roll the curl around and clip with pin curl grip like siansy! i think it makes such a difference! xx

I either do ghd or tonges then i secure the roll/curl with a lady jane until I have done the whole head and its cooled down.
I did a wedding a week last friday and did the hair of bride matron of honor and 2 flower girls for their 2pm wedding this way and when i went to the evening do...the littleones had dropped slightly but the adults had stayed in.
the best spray i have used is clynol styling spray xtra strong its in a cloudy pump bottle...its a great spray for dry setting too using velcro's

Redken spray starch is a brilliant product to use with tongs/ ghds/ heated rollers.
Squirt a bit of that on and them curls ain't going anywhere.

Have to say i recommend Cloud 9 The 0 Rollers!!!! They are the dogs! Very expensive but worth every penny xxx

Another thing to keep in mind is if the hair is very slippery and sleek the client may be over conditioning their hair. Tell them to skip the conditioner before they see you.
