Hi,
Sorry iv come over from Beauty, I really need some advice.

In April 2010 I had my hair cut off for charity, 13 inches, the hair was sent to the Little Princess Trust, who make wigs for children with alapicia or thoes going through cancer treatments. I also raised £400 which went to the nursing home that had cared for my dad. So not all bad.

Anyway I'm now hating my hair it is growing but it just looks horrid, I don't know what to do with it, its about shoulder length now, but has shorter layers, it just has no style, and I just don't feel like me.

I had blonde highlights in the summer but that was just not me, I always have dark hair.

If anyone can suggest something I can do with it, I been to salons to have it cut and all they do is take off the ends, they don't seem to have any ideas.

Thanks

good trick i use to make my hair appear longer is wear a banana clip you can pick them up from claires accessories for about £5.
If "you " is dark hair then go back dark.
Buy things you can accessorise with and work at different styles.......buy a clip in pony tail.
You can buy buns that you can attach to short pony tails.

If you really not happy with your hair style and its mearly the length you need to work it in to different styles as much as you can, have a play about look on you tube for videos and tips. Eventually your hair will grow back and then you can get it cut in a style you like.

If this isnt your thing then go and have a consultation with a hairdresser again or with a couple and see what different ideas they come up with.

I know your pain tho........about 13 months ago i decided on a very short bob...id had this bob when i was 19 and loved it but some how at 26 it just wasnt me, couldnt do anything with it. So untill it grew i used different styles and hair pieces and before i knew it its back long down my back again.

HTH hun x

I would suggest going for a consultant at a different hairdresser, who might have fresh ideas for you.

Well done for having your hair cut off and raising all that money for such good causes.

The advice from 'ABDiva' about using clip-in hair is a good starting point as this will give you some alternative looks to try out.

I'd also recommend buying a couple of inexpensive hairstyle magazines and spending a fair bit of time looking through them.

You might not find a picture of exactly what you want but if you find images of styles/shapes/colours you like, cut each of them out and show them to your hairdresser, explaining what it is about each photo that appeals to you.

It's quite hard for a hairdresser who doesn't know you at all to come up with something 'amazing' after a short consultation unless you can give them some guidance on what you like and dislike about your current style. The pictures will help you to communicate your ideas more clearly and enable your stylist to find the right look for you.

Good luck.

Well done you, that's a really brave thing to do!

You might not feel it, but you're quite lucky - it's shoulder length, and lots of things can be done to shoulder length hair!

Definitely sounds like you need a consultation with a few different salons / hairdressers ... Don't pay them money to just chop your ends off if you want more, it isn't fair on you and they aren't really doing their job properly, where's the creativity in that!?

I'm just re-highlighting whats already been said really, but i didn't want to read and run.
I'd definitely suggest going dark again if it's more you - it's easy to go dark again, but not light after dark, so again, you are a bit lucky in that sense too!

Clip in hair is also a very good idea. Another idea just to make your current hair style a bit different it just messing around with different hair do's. There are plenty in magazines, and even youtube tutorials. I don't know if you ever curl your hair and things like that, but it can actually make you and your hair look very different!!

Good luck :)
