Dark line down nail

Hi everyone, just looking for a bit of advice, one of my clients has a dark line down her nail (see pic), i’ve advised her to go to her GP and get it checked out but I was just wondering if anyone knows what it is? TIA

On this occasion I would tell her to go to doctors as this could be nothing or quite serious

glad you've recommended that they see their GP, I really hope they get it checked out soon. As above said it could be nothing or could be something that definitely needs to be seen soon x

There was this huge panic a few months back on FB, etc. about dark lines down the nails being a sign of cancer, it scared the heck out of lots of people unnecessarily I feel. Yes, it can be a sign of cancer, but it's really unusual in causicans and can be many many other things, most harmless.

That said, we are not doctors and should never be diagnosing anything, so always refer to a doctor

Thanks for the replies, i have advised her to go to her GP before but she didn’t go and I have seen her again today and advised the same. I asked her if she wanted me to get other opinions and she said yes which is why I have posted it. Thank you. I’m sure she’ll get it checked now. Xx
