Hi everyone! I am in desperate need of help! I have darkest brown/black hair and am wanting to do my own strategically placed highlights. I understand the mixing of developers and toners but don't know what to use to get the colors I desire which are what is in the pictures above. I went to a very high end salon here in town and after showing my colorist those pictures, I ended up with RED and orange balayage. I went back 3 days later and he tried to deny it was red, but I asked him to step out of the dimly lit salon and go outside and he saw what I saw and agreed. We took it a little darker. What I do know is that he used Demi permanent colors on me. Can anyone tell me what to use, that I can buy from Sally's to create the color I want? Thanks in advance!

The highlights in the pics do have red in them.

Not the red I am talking about. ImageUploadedBySalonGeek1404619613.557745.jpghere is what I had

I don't think you are going to find anyone to give you a formula on this site, are you a professional hair, nail or skin person? I would suggest a couple color consultations with other stylists to see if they can help you. Consultations are usually free :) hope this helps.

Is there a reason I wouldn't find anyone to give me a formula? Isn't that what the purpose of coming to a forum such as this is? I had one consultation before buy the girl and I were not on the same page as to what I was looking for. The guy I went to is supposed to be one of the best in Houston and totally missed the mark. I'm just not trusting anyone at this point.

It looks to me like your hair is in poor condition and had loads of red colour on it before he attempted to lift it.
Unfortunately we do not advise non pros on how to use chemicals which if not used correctly can lead to burns, even worse colour, permanent hair loss, hair breakage etc.
The only advice you are going to get is "go pro". That and look after your hair better and get a good cut to remove all that damage

The purpose of the forum is for hair professionals to give advice to fellow hair professionals, some people think colouring is an easy job how hard can it be you mix the colour you want with the developer, we've all worked damn hard and have paid money to do colour courses, we can't see the porosity of your hair or the elasticity this can effect how the colour comes out, go to another salon and ask them to fix it don't put anything on your hair if it goes wrong it will make the colourists job a bit more difficult

Test the elasticity I mean

The only advice we can give is go to a professional salon x
