Do I tell this during my interview?

I've finally got myself a job interview at a salon.

I'm feeling confident, but on their Facebook page it's full of hair up pictures they do.

I REALLY can't do hair up, not even the basics. Do I be honest from the start?

How do I tell them, without sounding like a bad stylist, I really want this job

I was thinking of saying that, don't knownhow to bring it up though. Don't wanna sound too inexperienced

Quite often during an interview you will be asked about your strengths and weaknesses, so this is where it would come up. Just make sure to sell yourself on the things that you are good at.

It sounds as though you haven't been qualified long (excuse me if i'm wrong), but they will know that already from your CV, as well as how much experience you have. Personality and enthusiasm goes a long way in hair and beauty. Many bosses will say you can teach the skills but you can't teach personality x

I've just finished level 3 and I do hair at.home, so not super experienced. I feel a lot better now you've said that, I am saying passionate and I'm sure it will shine through

A good team needs diversity as well as specialists.

Focus the interview on your best areas and what you enjoy doing and your enthusiasm and professionalism will shine through.

If they ask about hair up, just explain that you are aware that they already employ experts on this area and one reason for applying is the opportunity to enable you to learn from the more experienced team members.

I never thought of it that way! I love colour, so I'm going to really promote my passion for it during my interview.

Update.

To called the salon, the boss wasn't in. So I left my number and they said she,will call back at 5

It's now gone 9...

What do I do?

Something may have come up. The message may not have been passed on.
Try calling around 11 tomorrow. They will have had a couple of hours to have called you back if something did come up. X

Don't be disheartened. Something might have come up, they might not have got the message. Someone could have written the number down wrongly....

Call in first thing tomorrow, if you can. Show you're keen.

Years ago, I remember having an interview and I was about 18. They said they'd ring the successful candidate.

No-one had rung by 8pm so I went out for a consolation bevvy with my mate. Got home about 10.30 and the phone rang. I was a bit (very) merry and they were offering me the job. Apparently, his son had had an accident and he'd had to take him to A&E and had only just got home himself.

God knows what I said on the phone but I remember feeling embarrassed on my first day there....

Be honest and not afraid to admit your weaknesses. I have been doing hair 20 years now and I always tell new employers I don't do up do's, chem straightening or extensions. I don't mind preparing a client for an up do for the stylist going to do it but I am all thumbs when it comes to this and I don't support straightening and hate doing extensions. I am basically more tech.... cutting and color/wave, chemicals. I have had positive feedback by listing these things on my res from employers. Nothing worse than getting a wedding party booked in with you and you don't know how to hair up well!

The fact you've been doing hair 20 years and.you can.still admit that.one.weakness is a huge.relief! I never wanted to lie.at all, imagine having bridal skills like me while dealing with bridezillas lol

Maturity increases awareness of your strengths and weaknesses and (hopefully) learning to accept that you're good enough as you are.
