hi i was just wondewring if you have to work in a salon to do level 3. I want to be a mobile hairdresser can i do this on a level 2 i already have a little salon experience from a long time ago. I would work in a salon unpaid before going mobile but i would like to do the level 3 after . i have children and am wanting to qualify while they are smaller so i can work for myself when they hit high school

Hiya,
You don't have to be working in a salon to do your level 3.
You would be able to go mobile with just a level two, however if someone came to you wanting a colour correction or something more advanced you would probably struggle (in my opinion ) as this isn't really covered until you do your level 3.

i would rather do the level 3

I would definatley reccomend doing the level 3.

I think you need a salon placement on your level 2 though.

i was supposed to be doing level 2 last september and went to the interview and got on the course and no one said i had to do a placement

the course i wanted was a eveninbg course so i dont know how i can do a plcement

Ah right, that's how it works at the college I'm attending, so I think it must depend on the college.

At the college I'm attending you need a placement for any level 2 hairdressing course. For level 3 you don't need one.

Could you not arrange a meeting with student services to discuss to courses you would like to do and wether they would require you to attend a placement? Then you could start making plans from there?

hi, at the college i was at, it has become compulsory this year to be in a salon to do your level 3.

ive emailed the college, i could only do a placemnt in school hours a few hours a week

I'm on my level 3 and at my college a placement is compulsory to get the commercial experience module.

Yes in my college you do have to be in a commercial environment with level 3
However there are some colleges that do evening for level 3 so I heard.

My local college does level 3 of an evening, you don't need a placement as you can pay extra to be assessed in the college salon. Worth ringing them and seeing what they say.

Hi you don't need a placement to do your level 3 as long as you have confidence in your level 2 techniques. If the academy you chose works within a realistic enviroment you will be fine. Contact Vibe in Wibsey Bradford they have this option fast track. :) Call Diane at Vibe on 01274 604 421 she will give you all the advise you need, or they are on the net. Hope this helps
