I had a client today who came in for infill she told me she was wearing gels. I took bulk away with e-file but she said it was hot, this has never happened before. I found out that she was wearing acrylic with shellac on top. Her nails were sensitive.

Does acrylic get hot when you remove it will the e-file

If the e file is left in a spot for too long, you use too much pressure or her nails are weak/damaged then yes it's very possible to get a heat spike with the e file :)

All files work via friction, friction = heat. Some clients, especially those with damaged or thin nails will feel it more. Always keep the file moving to minimise heat build up, if the client complains move from nail to nail.

Ceramic drill bits cause less friction but I personally would use a hand file on such nails

I did change to a hand file but took ages to file through acrylic. The client didn't know what she had on to begin with, said she had held on when she first day down, then powder gels then we worked out it was shellac over acrylic.

She has also lost a nail so when I replaced it i put the form on and applied gel which got very hot and painful for her. She has taken layers off so the nail was thin. I think I should have applied acrylic instead of gel maybe?
