Hey geeks, wondering what you'd all suggest, I have very oily skin so use Eve Taylor purifying wash and balancing wash (mix and match seems to keep the oil under control well) although recently I've had severe dry skin that's flaking and cracking in the corners where my nose joins my face, it's so bad it hurts to move my mouth! I'm not trained in facials or skincare only spray tanning, hair and nails so just hoping someone with more knowledge could help me a little, sorry for the essay and thanks in advance xxx

Have you been to a therapist? Your skin could be dehydrated rather than dry or maybe you have combination skin x

It does sound more like you've got dehydrated skin rather than dry skin (dry skin lacks oil, dehydrated skin lacks water). If you've got dehydrated skin you want to look for hydrating products with humectants (like glycerin, hyaluronic acid, urea, aloe vera ect.)- it could be a toner, serum or moisturiser. You also want to make sure the air is not too dry so you could try a humidifier (or just leave a few bowls of water out for a low tech option) and watch out for air con. Try not to go to town with harsh cleansing products and astringent toners, if you get that squeaky clean feeling you've stripped your skin of it's acid mantle (natural protection) and it's going to take a few hours for it to be restored.

Sorry but it's time to say goodbye to long hot showers- try to keep them warm not hot and under 15 minutes (your skin doesn't really like either temperature extreme). And a final tip; try to put your moisturiser and serums on as soon as you get out the shower (within 3 minutes), if you put any moisture on your skin you should try not to let it evaporate off so either put on serum or moisturiser or blot.
