 Hiya, i hope you can help me, i just wanted to know how you extend your nail beds? can you only do this with sculpts or can it be done with tips? sorry for sounding so daft its just i didnt cover this in my course. many thanks xx

Hi there

You can use either technique - you need a powder that will camouflage the clients smile/hide her finger tip, so that you can place your free edge colour further away from the eponychium x

what system do you use? x

hiya, thanks for getting back to me. i use creative

i think there is information on custom colour blending in the tutorial section.

If you are sculpting, then place your form as usual and sculpt out a very very thin white bead (so you can see the blue performance form through it). Then you need to get another usual size white bead and build a smile line, but put it where YOU want it. When you put your camouflage pink on place it behind your smile as usual, it will probably be sitting on the first thin white bead. Work back as usual. The first white bead will stop the light shining through your work from the back of the nail and it will act as a platform - rather like a tip.

With a tip, tip as usual, smile where you want and camouflage pink....

If you need anymore help PM me x

how do i extend the nail bed using a white tip????

the short answer is, u cant!
the whole point of extending a nail bed is that some people (like me) have teeny nail beds.
if u put a white tip on me, it would look gross. it would make my finger look very short and wide.
if u can put on a natural tip, you then use white powder and put your smile line higher up than the natural one, and then use a camoflage pink powder as mandy said.
the problem with getting into the practise of using white tips, is that you get out of the practise of sculping your smile lines freehand with white powder.
if this is the case, get practising your smile lines on some tips and then you can start custom blending.
have fun:)

Thank you for your help .
Ill let you know how i go .... wish me luck lol xx:green:

Hi,

Would I be able to use the Bio Sculpture pink on top of the tip. And then just paint in Bio White where I want my smile line? Do you think that will work?

Curious?

Jacky

I do this to my nails using a coverage pink gel then use paint on white to change the placement of my free edge, have a practice with it and see how you get on :wink2:

Perfect, thanks. I will give it a go tomorrow and let you see the picture if it comes out at all... If not I will keep trying and then send you the picture...

Jacky:lol:

when doing this for clients do you have to teach them anything about cleaning their nails/hands due to the hidden area under the free edge? Daft thing to think about but there you go!!
