Hi
I pluck my eyebrows at home, I have a couple of questions...
Can you pluck above your eyebrow? I've heard you can then I've heard you can't.
The start of my brows are quite long, can I trim them? I did it once and thought they looked too blunt, is this the idea?
Should you pluck from the inside end of the brow? I've also done this and don't like how it looks but when they grow back it looks silly so I end up pulling them out again. I'm a brow disaster basically! Help please!x

Making an eyebrow beautiful is an art form. Seriously.

I would suggest going to a good waxer, you may need to do some growing out and go back to her 2 or 3 times but after that you will have a lovely pair of brows.

She will advise you how and where to pluck if you want to then take care of themself. You may need to go back every so often to have the shape redefined.

However, if the hairs have been over plucked they may not all grow back but it is still worth the investment.

To answer your question though:

I always wax my clients brows from above to remove strays and define the shape. But I always tell my clients not to do this ... they will almost certainly pluck to much and the brow will end up lower than their original starting point.

I always trim eye brows but I also advise clients against this as they are likely to end up with brows like the ones you mention.

You can pluck from the front to the back of the brow but be cautious ... clients generally go from one brow to the other plucking along the way and before they know it they have 20 hairs left or they are completely unbalanced.

It's a minefield for diy'ers and I get at least one lady each week asking me to correct her own work.

xx

Thanks jacquelineanna. I was considering hd brows. I'm sure mine aren't that bad it's just the thing about tidying from above and the plucking of where they start...

Excuse my hideous face lol hope you can see them. They look a bit flat and straight actually. I'd like them like Alena shishkova if you know what I mean but I Spose they have to match your face shape...

Hey it's a lovely face

If you hold a pencil from the side of your nose in line with the inner corner of your eye - where the pencil sits on, or next to your brow, is where they should start from. Yours look as though they are a little short at the front. And perhaps at the end.

If you can persevere with letting the hair grow back in these areas you will be happy with the result. If they grow patchy and don't look as if they 'belong' with the rest of the brow then that's that - you can remove them.

I would also say the brows are too heavy from the front to past the mid way point .... you could create a nice arch if you can thin them out.

Proceed with caution though ok, pull a few hairs from one brow and then from the other brow and go between the two. Know when to stop!!

If you want to pluck from the top DO NOT PLUCK IN THE ACTUAL BROW LINE but remove all the hairs that you can easily see do not belong there.

You should have a nice arch on the top and a nice arch underneath.

If you are going to trim - use a brow comb or brush and brush the brows upwards, snip the tops of the hairs almost one at a time and snip with caution!! You can snip teeny tiny amounts 2 or 3 times if you need to. If you snip to much length and too many hairs at the same time it will look ridiculous.

Has this made sense?

Good luck xx

Hi thankyou. I have done the pencil thing and it seems they are starting where they should?
Oh I'm not going to be able to create the arch I don't want tiny thin eyebrows but they just look straight at the moment. I have no money so can't even get them done anywhere!
How can I make an arch if there's hardly enough hairs above and when I take them from below they will look too thin. Ahhh x

If you don't take some of the hairs out from underneath you will not be able to change the shape :-(

The other thing you could try is brow make up. We use Christian brows make up but its quite expensive when you don't have a lot of spare cash - go on the ELF web site (Eyes Lips Face) they have a pretty good product at a very good price.

Then you need to practice with one of the stencils until you are confident enough to do it freehand ... this way you will probably be able to get the arch you are looking for.

Wish I could have been more help xx

Thankyou JA, I've had a little go with the tweezers, I'll attach a pic. I'm on elf and I've had look so will get one of then pallets with the stencils. Hope it works.
When I finally get them right it will probably be time for my next course which includes brows and I have to leave them alone so another student can practice on me, hope they don't ruin them once I get them right!
Thanks again.

I think you're gorgeous and you have lovely brows.

I would trim the fan hairs (brows on the edge nearest the nose) and if possible, I'd suggest that you grow the tail end as they look a little short.

Flat brows are in and really on trend for younger people like yourself.

Hi Kim
I did trim those hairs before but don't they just look really blunt? Is that the idea as it doesn't seem to look right to me.x
