i'm wondering if those of you who are trained in eyelash extensions, is it possible to perform the treatment on your own lashes.
i'm mulling over the idea of doing the training, but i really wouldnt want to pay for the kit and training if i then still had to pay to get my own done.
what are your experiences ?

Hi Angel Fingers

I do Nouveau Contour eyelash extensions, and I could never ever attempt to do it myself! I suppose it depends on how ambidextrous (sp?) you are. It's damn fiddly, oh and not to mention my tweezers are sharp!. I can't even tint my own lashes!

I think it is better if you find someone who does them and do a swop she does yous you do hers e.t.c. but thats just my own opinion

Not much help am I?

I don't do them but have them done by my Cousin. I love them and couldn't be without them now! She has the problem of not being able to wear them as obviously you can't do your own and doesn't know anyone else that does them and it's not like you can teach anyone to do it as its so fiddly! Would it be worth trying to find someone who would be willing to do yours and you do them in return, in advance? Just a suggestion?

mmm, i'm sure i could do it on other people, coz i'm really good at fiddly things.

but i was thinking it would be a difficult task to do my own.

It is really fiddly, I find it best to book clients in the morning for it, It doesn't always work that way.

I will have an attempt tomorrow to try and put one on me, I think I could manage one but that would be it.

Actually just thinking about it again. I would almost say it would be nearly impossible to do them to yourself as you put the extensions on the baby lashes and surely you would need both eyes to see them.

Correct me if I am wrong anyone! I would love to know how to do my own!

I live in good old N'pton but work in Olney you are more than welcome to have a play with my extensions to see if it is what you think it is before you commit.

God, I wished I could do my own!!
I love to give other people beautiful lashes, but could never do them on myself so I do get jelous!!:irked: Any I-Lash trained geeks nearby, give me a call!!
Fab service to offer though!

It is absolutely the most fiddly thing I have to do and there is no way I could do my own lashes as you have to close your eye whilst applying each individual lash then open, then close, then open - I'm sure you get the picture:lol: Think I would end up with my eyes glued together if I tried to do my own so I'd definitely say get someone to do it for you if you can:)

what sort of costs is it to learn? Do you have to travel far, I didn't really get a chance to speak to the people at the show,

I know most of the companies do various packages. The company I trained with do about 3 to suit differant budgets, they also came to me to train me one 2 one which was great as Im not the quickest learner!

I wouldn't even contemplate doing my own. As said before, I would end up gluing my eyes together. Even if you are good at fiddly things I just don't think you would get the angle of your tweezers right etc. and you do need to focus on where you are putting them so probably impossible (if you want them to look good)

It's not a good idea, and nigh on impossible, simple as!:green:

The only way you'd have a chance of placing an extension on an isolated lash and not sticking all your lashes together, is by looking in the mirror....but then what happens in a mirror?....left is right and backward is forward, so you'd get amazingly confused and end up stabbing your own eye out with the immensely sharp tweezers.....not a good look....

It's a fab service to offer though! If you need advice regards training etc, feel free to PM me.

yes, you are right, i'd be better off paying to get my own done than blinding myself

hopefully if i make a reasonable profit doing them then spending money on my own will be easier.:)

I have done mine own a few times. I don't really have a problem with it. One of my co-workers always does her own, and they look absolutely fabulous.

I think you might be referring to the 'cluster' lashes (several lashes knotted together) that last for a few days tops....angel fingers is asking about actual eyelash extensions that are individual synthetic lashes placed onto individual natural eyelashes and last for several weeks.....

However if you are talking about eyelash extensions, please inform us how you and your friend apply them without blinding yourselves or sticking your lashes together!! :green:

Yes, I mean the individual lashes. I'm not sure if I can explain it very well. I do it the same way I do my clients' lashes.
