Hi there,

I took the plunge and did my first eyelash perm in 5 years!! It didn't turn out that well and it is very fiddly. However I did quite enjoy doing it.

I bought the only kit in the supplier, by Amirose

The problems I had were:

I wasn't sure which roller to use (used a large one as she had long lashes, but the curl wasn't that good)

I found it hard to get the roller off, in fact I thought her eyelashes were going to fall out it was stuck on that well

I wasn't that impressed with the curl in fact it wasn't much of a curl - if that happened on a paying client what could I do?? Would I have to go back to applying the perm lotion for 15mins then the neutraliser for 15 mins again???

Anyway pointers would be good. Many thanks xx

You have to be carefull with the size of rolers, if its too small and the lashes are long they will end up like pigs tails..........if they are quite long and your curl wasnt that good then i would go for medium roller, i wouldnt recomend adding more time for perm solution, always stick to the instructions.

As for removing, i use damp cotton bud and wet where the lashes are stuck to the roller, it takes a while but it does disolve the adhesive. Then gently rub the lashes with the damp cotton bud untill they lift off and then gently remove the rollers

I use the Salon System perming kit and have never had any problems with the curling process. I mostly use the medium rollers, i think i have only ever used the large rollers once when i was training and the girl did have the longest lashes i have ever seen!!

i had my eyelashes permed the other day, the perm lotion was on for 15 mins, as was the neutraliser.
mine are what i would call regular length lashes, she used a medium size roller and i'm really pleased with the result :D

Hi there

If the client has short lashes use a small roller, if you were to use small roller with long lashes the lashes would wrap around the roller almost, and look like pig tails as said before.

Some clients lashes will take really easy to perming lotion, others either don't or take longer. If you do a paying client ask if she has had this done before and what the results were like. You can always start off with smaller fee for training purposes.

If she hasn't had it done before then start with 15 mins, explain her lashes may curl in with this time but difficult to say as it's the first time. Always make a note on your consultation form, and make a note of the size of roller. If it doesn't curl that well then she will have to come back, I think you could try doing it one more time (ask your trainer/supplier for their recommended time) but there is a risk you could dry out the lashes completely. Next time she comes in then you will need to try say 20 mins (again ask your trainer/supplier what the max time is).

I have one particular client who lashes just wont curl well at all even with 20 mins. She told me she had them done before elsewhere and the therapist had trouble curling them.

As Lily said, dampen a cotton bud and run it back and forth over the roller and where it sits on the skin, gently teasing it down.

Hi there

Unless your products are out of date or the lids have been kept off for ages (would weaken the solutions), then you mustn't loose confidence or not charge the client if the lashes are not that curly. Everyone's hair is so different. Same if you went and had your hair permed, when I used to have mine done many years ago it would always take so easily and end up being too curly I hated it! Others I knew would hardly get a curl and it would never last.

Just explain to the client it all depends on their hair type how well they curl and if they say their hair takes well to a perm it doesn't mean the eyelashes are the same. Also explain the recommended time is 15 mins, but if the lashes are not that curly you will try 20 mins next time. Don't forget also that there shouldn't be any oils on the lashes as this will affect the outcome.

Don't give up, promote your service as it's not a bad money earner.
