Hi all
I have today carried out an eyelash perm on a client that has been having the treatment done every 8-10 weeks for 2 Years. I have done the treatment exactly the same as I usually do, apart from I tried a smaller roller for a tighter curl today, and it didn't take at all. The only thing different is I have a new perm kit as my last set had run out. So a brand new set from same supplier. The perm lotion had changed to a pink colour but packaging the same. Any ideas why this didn't take at all today? It's quite embarrassing as you are there for 45minutes to an hour only to find no result when you take the rollers off.

Hiya, sorry to hear u've problems, totally get where ur coming from, not good after 45mins-ish of treatment time. Was thinking your perm lotion may have been old/ out of date, it does lose its potency after a while but since u say it was new... Have u called ur suppliers?ask if they have had any other issues, could be a faulty batch?have they altered any of the ingredients? alternatively, has ur client done anything different?new medication perhaps? New eye products? Just a few considerations.

Has anything changed with the client? Occasionally a change in medication or pregnancy can change the oilyness/resistance in the hair.
Another consideration could be by using a smaller roller the position of the lotion has been lower....it has taken but if the bend is in the wrong place wouldn't look right...lastly if it's not the lotions as they are new, it may be the perm lotion not being completely removed before the setting lotion was applied, this means it would not set the hair in the curl resulting in straight lashes...they generally feel "sloppy" if it's this as the cuticle has been opened by the perm lotion but not reset by the neutraliser.
Hope that helps, just a few things I came across when I was a trainer.

Thank you for your advice. I took it all into consideration and did a perm on my mum yesterday being incredibly thorough and again the perm didnt take. So it seems this must be related to the product. I am going to get onto the company tomorrow!
