Aaaaargh!!!!

So the majority of my business comes through Facebook. I am paying a fortune for advertising but they seem to be making it harder and harder for small business to succeed! I put a big post on about a new product I have brought in to my business, spent £15 pounds on boosting it etc and then Facebook decide to stop the boost. I then read there new guidelines; your boost will be low if your image contains a lot of text. I then delete that image and Facebook still don't reactivate my post. I am mega frustrated!! Too make matters worse it's an absolute nightmare to even get in touch with them.

Anyone else feeling the same?

It's so annoying. I end up sharing my business page posts on local buy and sell pages just to get it viewed but it's not really how I want to go about promoting myself as it attracts people who want something for nothing xx

I have to be honest - I have never paid for a page boost.

Instead, I've searched for all the local notice boards and started by advertising on them showing work is already done. It works a treat and has really boosts my local profile. In your position I'd rather do that any day.

I regularly boost posts and haven't had any issues. Do they still charge you the full amount? I don't think you can change the post once the boost has been approved.

I have to say even if it has been approved they can still stop it from being boosted...that happened to me....I have paid for it to be boosted but I don't get a lot from it....popping a link on free sites on FB is much better and I have had people get in contact from that x

If the image post contains text, it won't get approved.

I've tried the local buy swaps sells but I've had more success with boosting. It's just so frustrating!! Yeah I think il still be charged for it. Nailtechjoe it has been approved and only stopped boosting at some point between yesterday and the day before I then deleted the image and kept the other two (which neither had text) and they haven't reboosted it [emoji45]

I've tried doing all that on pages but I have more success with boosting

I've had no success with boosting posts or local promotion on Facebook. I'm going to try an alternative. I'll let you know if I find anything.

It seems to be the amount of text in the image but what that level is I don't know.
Too much skin showing is also rejected

I find boosting a post works well for me and I always cover the cost with the new clients it generates.
You need to be very specific with your targeting though to make it work.
My top tips are:
1. Eye catching image specific to the promotion
2. Must be a price special offer
3. First line of text needs to sum up the offer to make them read the further detail
4. Always include your website address
5. Edit your audience to fit the promotion
6. Select a realistic area eg 10 miles from the salon or specific towns
7. Select correct age group for your promotion
8. Run the promotion over at least 3 days

Hope this helps [emoji3]

Yes Georgibomb please let me know :)

Thanks CFBS I do do all of the above but this time because I had an image with text it's stopped and now it's been removed it won't reboost! 15 pounds down the drain

If you upload an image that contain "too much" (and that's hard to quantify by eye) text and boost it - it'll get stopped.

I boost posts daily usually, just to keep my likers up to date with offers and scheduling issues etc. I almost never include an image/graphic on those boosted posts though. I save all my nice "eFlyers" for non-boosted posts.

Eflyers are literally flyers that we design that are posted onto Facebook (you can add them to all social media, as well as emailing/messaging them etc. but I digress). Our eFlyers can be price lists, promotional things, seasonal offers etc...they're *very* impactful...but we usually have text on them so don't boost them.

The strategy we use (which works!) is to boost text only posts, which then gets lots of "eyes" on the page- and then the eFlyers come into their own as they catch people's eye.

That said (and this is probably too long a subject to go into here, you'l get lots of information on this if you Google it) the most effective thing you can do is get your likers sharing, commenting and liking your posts...this creates a viral marketing effect which is exactly what boosting posts is replicating....and it's free!

The more interactions (by people commenting, liking and sharing) a post gets the more Facebook thinks it's interesting and the more people it'll share it with. Just make sure you TELL people to do it!

Feel free to have a look at our FB page https://www.facebook.com/VerveDesigns/ as there's loads of social media marketing ideas that us and our clients have had over the past few years you can "borrow"...as well as a few free eFlyers.

..........So, your strategy could be to do a simple "come and look at our FB page for our latest news and offers" blah blah post.

Then boost it.

Then make sure your page is attractive and interesting enough when those people then arrive to the page. Pin eFlyers to the top of the page for example, or make sure a price list is easily available....

Thanks verve, I actually messaged you the other day just need to come up with some ideas of what I would like then il email you it over. Mums gonna give me a hand so just need to find a chance to get together and message you :)!

If I delete the images and just make it a text post then will Facebook re boost it?

No worries :)

Yep, just remove the image and re-boost and it should be fine.

Done all that and will now not give me the option to reboost ! Pain in the backside!

Just delete the original one, and cut and paste the text into a new post and boost it from fresh...you won't be charged anything for a rejected post anyway.

Just start again :)

Thank you, really appreciate your help. Il be in contact next couple of days :)
