I seem to have a problem with open pores on my nose.
When I put foundation on they are glaringly obvious no matter how much I blend.
I use moisturiser n concealer, no powder.
It looks like my nose has been pebble dashed!
Would you recommend a facial at a salon (although there's so many types it's confusing) or is there something I can do at home? I'm 46 so I have senior lady dry skin ;)
Thanks in advance :)

Have you had a skin analysis before? You say you have a dry skin. It sounds to me like it could be a combination skin, as oily skin areas are characterized by larger pores. The other thing is that in the mature client sometimes dry skin is mistaken for dehydrated skin and the wrong products can be used. The products for dry skin would be more emollient based and would be unsuitable for oily areas. If your skin is dehydrated it will look dry and flaky and will need hydration making the skin smooth and soft.
I do think it would be a good idea to go to a salon for a skin analysis to see what your skin type is and take it from there xx

I also think you have your skin type wrong. From your post I would recommend a pore minimising mask of clay origin in your nose twice a week and if you have dry skin across cheeks and forehead you can use a hydrating mask on these areas at the same time. Also a serum is very important in daily routine but if it's too rich on certain zones of the face you will notice problems with make up application, visible pores and shiny even congested skin. I think you should book I for a full skin consultation and find a routine that will get the best from your skin.

Out of interest, do you have a skin care regime at the moment Waxcetera?

I say dry as in feels dry, that's as much as I know ☺
My current routine n your gonna hate this.... sensitive pampers baby wipes.
Once a week, I use now protect n perfect moisturiser under my concealer.
I do need to buy more moisturiser as it's running out.
I have to be careful though as some (last was loreal) itch so much I want to claw my skin off.
Where could I get a skin analysis done? local salon?
I'm going to house of fraser tomorrow, wonder if any of their beauty counters do it

Stop using wipes especially ones that aren't even designed for faces!
Most cosmetic counters will talk to you about your skin but won't really have much of an idea. You really need to go to a salon that knows about skin but in the meantime pack in the wipes. Seriously tat!

I always used them instead of face wash as u used to get it in my eyes n end up with bleary contact lenses. I need to find a good local salon 😊
Thanks for your help n advice I appreciate it x

Wipes aren't a good idea. As for the products that make you itch, this could indicate sensitivity. You would be better to go to a salon as it's difficult to offer more advice without actually seeing your skin. Let us know how you get on xx

if you dislike a wash, I would find a cleanser and toner for your correct skin type after a salon analysis- if you're not sure how to find one you could go by which reputable brands they stock/facial as they'd have had their training- and keep it bybyour toothbrush so its a quicl habit you get into. I guarantee once you stop using wipes you'll notice a difference.

Your pores are your pores. You may be able to minimise them with some strong facial peels. I'm assuming if you're a baby wipe kind of gal you're not going to want to spend hundreds of pounds on peels and home care? I would try using porefessional by Benefit. It fills the pores temporarily then you put your make up on top. :)

I've spoken to my local salon (where I get my eyebrows done) n I'm having a skin consultation next week. Then I'll either have a facial or micro dermabrasion (sounds scary lol) plus she'll recommend skincare products.
Quite excited really lol
Thanks for your help x

Begin with a couple of products until you get yourself into a good skincare routine xx

Oh my you've created a monster lolol.
So I had a free facial at origins (my first ever!) Where I found out I haven't got dry skin with open pores, i've got sensitive skin with clogged pores! (The ginzing moisturiser I wanted that she used reacted so she used a sensitive one. Unfortunately this was double the price n with the serum was £84! A no go unfortunately. So I paid a visit to lush n got a toner spray, moisturising serum bar, scrub n mask ☺
Unfortunately because she used a exfoliator in the facial I couldn't have my microdermabrasion today.
I did however have electrolysis for a flashing bright red beacon on my nose n it's vanished, woo hoo!
Also had my eyebrows tinted, go me ☺ microdermabrasion next week ;)
Also as I've just got into makeup n learning how to apply it (via considerable late nite watching you tube, i cant stop beauty hauling! Urban decay palettes, real techniques brushes! 5! Lipsticks n glosses, benefit did me a makeover too, so I got bronzer n highlighter, oops ;) just walked in the door from boots lol. I'm even wearing makeup during the day.
I think I need help lol.
Sorry for waffling x
