I had a bride contact me on New Year's Day wanting hair and makeup and hair for 4 people which I quoted her for and as she was local (10 mins a way I could fit everyone in, in the allocated time she gave me.

She then emailed to say that one of the bridal party would be getting ready over an hour away (she only wanted hair up) and wanted me to go there first and come back to get her and the rest of them ready.

I said that even though I'm happy to accommodate this it would mean me getting up at 4am (leaving at 4.30ish) as it would be a 2.5 hour round trip numerous toll charges, set up and down for one person etc so I would have charge for tolls, petrol and travel time (£50).

She emailed back today sayig I was being 'highly unreasonable' and 'silly' for charging her for tolls and travel time.

She also said that I 'for working only for a few hours and I would be making big money out of her'

All in all including that and her and her bridal parties treatment m time and traveling time to and from I would of been work a 9/10 hour day - NOT a few hours.

a mobile service is a luxury service and if someone wants me to get up at an unreasonable time like 4am to drive round Hampshire to do one hair up they can god damn well pay for it!

She then went onto say she has got some else to do it for £250 including trial and travel.

Dodge a land mine there!

Sounds like a case of bridezilla! Some can have high and unrealistic aims for one person to cope with. I think you dodge a bullet there :)

You'll always get people like this. I think you do in most industry. There's the best, the worst and everyone in between.

If she managed to find a muppet to work that long and all the travelling for that money then good luck to her. We turn down work that just covers the ink, plates and staff wages because there's not really much point in taking a job to break even on.

Business is business after all.

You made the right call. Would have to pay a hell of a lot to get me out the door at 4am!

Oh yeah, you just know she would have been trouble! Good riddance I say.:eek:

Better off well of that one! Lucky escape! Cheeky of her as well. People think mobile is cheaper- people can be uneducated!

I wouldn't trust someone who charges £250 for hair/makeup for 5 people with my face or hair on my wedding day.

Pay cheap - pay twice!

I think she has delusions of grandeur too!

She won't get to pay twice - she'll have those horrid pics to look at for the rest of her life!! Serves her right.

What grated me was she said that 'she liked to give honest feedback about the unreasonable way did i business and that I should take this and learn from the consequences that being unreasonable and silly has got me' 😱😱

Obviously a real Bridezilla.
Everyone's been blowing so much smoke up her arse she thinks she's the oracle.

What?? 4 O'clock? There's only one 4 o'clock a day and that's PM!
Cheeky woman!!

You should give it a few days then reply and say thank you for your feedback but I have already secured another booking in place of this but thank you anyway!

I have replied to her.

I stated that my time being compensated to for fill her request of traveling 2.5 hour round trip for one person and asking for toll charges was not unreasonable or silly.

I also stated I invest a lot time in my clients and use high grade products etc and do offer good value for money and given her comments in her previous email i felt that weren't a 'good match' and getting some else was a good thing for both of us etc
And wished her a happy wedding day

She'll get a shock during her trial when they turn her into Shrek

I would never break prices down. Cost it into the job.. People think they are being taken for a ride sometimes when they see a list of expenses. It frightens a lot of people.

You really have dodged a bullet there. Imagine how annoying she'd be on the day. Good luck to the poor soul who she's hired. They are going to need it!

Also agree with Virtues that you should state your price and not apologise or explain it. It is what it is. If she's not happy, which she's not, she can go elsewhere :) x

Reading between the lines I think this has more to do with fact she doesn't want to pay my rates than the surcharges and her response was just full if spiteful excuses to drop me and get some poor muppet will do it for half the cost (maybe she thought I would drop me rates in response (like hell)

I don't want to be hitching my wagon to this sort of bride, as they are nothing but trouble and end up causing so much stress and upset by the time the wedding day comes I have no goodwill left and end up resenting being in same room with them.

As I said to her we not a good match!
