You need to do a promo on your tans and emphsise your product as the most proffessional and best tan around, there will always be someone out there ready to try and take your trade !!! beware !! but remember you the best !!! XX

business is business at the end of the day. I totally agree with the other geeks who embrace competition. There will always be competition in business. I grasp it with both hands - make sure you are the best you can be, offer the best service you can. You cannot really blame people for researching the competition.

I wouldn't worry about her starting up, but I would do a leaflet drop all around the area, just to remind people how 'experienced' you are:green:

Well yes that is one thing to look at but then they may not want to drop their prices

This is very poor marketing advice, to just drop your price. you are cheapening the business, yourself and the product. the same as people who keep doing offers.

You will not sustain customer retention, you will get people who just hop from deal to deal, salon to salon, looking for the best price.

As I said, be different, be better and offer more. Always ad something on to your service, that cost you little and looks good. dropping prices is very dangerous, you will be always chasing yourself and others. Stand out.

This is expert advise.

See if you can find my old thread "My client stole my career" ... same thing happened to me last summer, and I was so upset and felt cheated, same as you. Nowadays, she's hardly doing any tans, so my sources tell me, and I'm busier than ever. Just keep doing what you're doing. If anything, it gave me a kick up the backside to really make a success of my business...!
