 i have just been informed by a friend that one of my hairdressing staff has been doing clients from the saoln at home! a client told a friend...quote" yeh the girls really good and she comes to your house"!! the cheek of it:cry: she has been with me years.. has this ever happened to anyone? i'm putting the salon up for sale anyway this wk because i am better off mobile..... dont even want to see her face tomorrow!!!!!

Sorry to hear this...this beauty world can be quite fickle and back-stabbing at times. I hope that you stay successful with your business going mobile and good luck to you! I ve know of issues like this before and its sad that some girls cannot be fair and honest. It will happen to her one day and then she'll know how it feels.

Good luck Ellie :)

Has she been doing your salons clients at home?

I would contact an employment lawyer. Has she been employed for longer than a year?

Is she employed and do you have a decent employment contract in place? I would be inclined to sack her, and tell her she has to give up the clients. I'd do this even if you do put the salon up for sale because it could be a while before it sells and you don't need people like that around.

Just to add this happened to me (I had sacked someone and the next day was told by two clients she had been in contact) and I had in her contract she couldn't do this so I got in touch told her to stop or I would take legal action, she didn't pay attention and I got my lawyer to write to her warning her too. This may help.

youve got to be so careful now sacking anyone, they could easily sue you for wrongful dismissal and you will end out of pocket, however i wouldnt let this lie, are you a member of the small business federation, they have lawyers on tap to give advice

It's not unfair dismissal if she breached the contract surely?

i think to be honest its because she knows ur selling up so shes trying to safeguard herself and not be left xx

You could always just shop her to inland revenue, I bet she aint registered as self employed? They will do their investigations and probably back date it from when she started working for you.

Thanks for your replies im alot calmer now:rolleyes:. shes handed her notice in...for the best! the staff dont know im putting it up for sale yet..thats tomorrows drama  youve got to laugh or youd cry! xxx

My advice if she's leaving is to

1: Pay her what she's owed in advance and have her leave immediately so she can't take client numbers and talk to clients etc. (she's still employed officially, just being payed not to be there).

2: The other thing I'd do is remove her access to anything to do with clients in the computer software so she can't steal a single piece of info.

3: I'd be looking at the logs from the last few weeks also to see if she's been snooping at client records.

Hope that helps, sorry to hear your news...

Rob

Legally if its in her.contract she shouldn't do it. If its not in writing who's told her she's doing wrong by doing what she's doing. I read an article not to long ago it had this.case in and even tho it can say it in a contract it could mean termination of her employment. But in court you don't stand a chance of getting no where its upto the client on where and how they get there hair done
