I've just had someone ask how much is regrowth foil highlights as their previous stylist charged less for regrowth than he did for scalp-to-ends, does anyone here charge less for regrowth?

Ta

No as your still taking the same amount of time and foil!

Also its up to you as the professional to deside weather you need to just do the roots or root to ends as you may be using differnet colours and when you weave you'll get all sorts of different coloured hair or you may get the 95% of the colour ur doing so just do the root area! X

Exactly my thinking. Sometimes if it's a fiddly job, with bleach/high lift it could take longer too.

Though I've just remembered, in the salon I trained with, many moons ago, to do the roots of foil regrowth they would sometimes use a cap and just pull through the hair into a loop up until the colour, so only the regrowth part was exposed and colour that and charge less! Always thought it looked a bit odd!

The only less expensive foil service we offer is to blend the hairline and bang to crown, use only a dozen or so foils for half price. You can usually do this service twice before the entire head needs a touch up.

You are doing as much work and applying your expertise ... how dare they suggest that you do it at a cheaper rate ...
It takes longer to be precise, you are using almost as much product, the same amount of foil, knowledge and skill as you would if you were to do scalp to ends.
Please, be confident in your skills and worth ... and don't be bullied into discounting ...

A lot of clients do assume it would/should be cheaper as you're only doing the roots. Obviously explain that it takes the same amount of time and same method- you could also suggest they have a top-up T-section of foils in between. A lot of my clients just have T-sections done inbetween having a full head. Some only have it done a couple of times inbetween or some only have a full head every now and then. Before we started offering this service the client wouldn't come as often as the price of having a full head of foils every time was too much, even just to have half a head of foils. Especially as all they want is the root. At least this way it looks like they've had more done and it blends nicely :) for you it could mean a repeat in business and for them it's less expensive!

Yeah I also charge the same, plus some may need refreshing on the ends or want different size slices etc you can never be sure if it is just the re growth that needs doing so instead of having loads of different prices I just stick to one for half head one for full, obviously adding more if there is toners etc. I have a few clients who alternate a half head for a full head. No one had ever asked me for a discount for just the roots. If its a colour correction then they get qouted on what needs doing but for straight forward hi lights/re growth I keep the prices set. x
