Hi, please bare with me as I’m new to this site and still learning, I’ve been qualified in Level 2 hairdressing for 2 years now so still lots to learn! Anyway, I have a client (my sister!) I’ve been doing her hair for a while now, she currently has an ombré/balayage with level 4 at the root, which is her natural hair colour and the lighter ombré is a level 7. My sister has now mentioned she would like to be a ‘light ashy brown’ all over. Her idea of a light brown is actually more like a level 6/7 so a medium to dark blonde. I’m just wondering what would be the best way to do this, if it’s a case of doing full head highlights and then perhaps toning I would be ok to do this, however would it actually be more of a colour correction -stripping the existing colour etc- as I haven’t been trained in colour correction so would not feel at ease obviously doing this and will send her to someone who has more experience! Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Just to add, she does have a level 4 quasi colour through the roots to cover some grey, the level 4 is not all natural. I wasn’t sure if I had been clear when trying to explain.

First of all you need to do a strand test to see if it will actually lift, it shouldnt be a problem though if its just been quasi.

Don't be put off just from the words colour correction, you have to start somewhere and your sister is perfect person to practice on. Do you work in a salon? If so i would bring her in and get your colleagues opinions.

I would highlight and tone, but use a 1.9 or 3% so it doesnt lift too much, then leave a quasi on for 20 mins x

Unfortunately I don’t work in a salon anymore (I had a baby etc) so it’s hard to learn new skills when you’re not around it all day. But thank you for your advice. I will give it a go, you’ve made it sound far simpler so thanks again x

As jamireid92 suggested above, do a strand test, maybe bleach + 3% on root and level 4 areas, and bleach and 1.9%/1.5% on M.L.E where lighter. Then tone with equal amounts of a suitable cool toned 7 and 8. Hope this helps.
