I've told her she will have to go blonde first but I'm unsure about the condition of her hair. She's asking how long will it take to get blonde and stuff! Any answers anyone?

Is that Lucy? Hehe, she has the same color as my friend. Can you put in a color stripper to take away the pigments?

She won't have to be just blonde, she will have to be white unless she's happy enough to have a salmon-y pink. I can confidently say she will not get it white from her current color without completely ruining the condition and then when she puts the pink on it will very likely be patch and fade off unevenly. I have just been through it all myself! =)

I agree I wouldn't go there to do that in one go will be some harsh work!! I'd just start braking it up with h/l and get there gradually!
Love the pink though cool colour xx

to be fair her hair doesnt look in great condition now! take a strand test and bleach bath it one part bleach one part 6% and one part warm water, wash off with a clarifying shampoo no cond! drench in porosity balancer then apply 10.3 tiny bit of red mix 3%. you will NOT have to lift this to white at all as your desired look is warm so the warmth left in the hair from bleach bathing will help the tint stay in! Its only for cool shades that u have to pre lighten to white blue, green etc! hth x

Anyone would think I'm on commission lol... there is a thread with the blondi Rae stripper looks good, great results. You could give that ago but don't think you will get a high lift blond. If you try it don't forget to post it in the thread..

For that shade of pink you will need to be white, I have tried it many times and any warmth in it and it goes salmon-pink rather than that true bubble-gum color.

Yeah I've told her she will need to be practically White but she just said can I just get her as blonde as possible. I said I can but will take time. I'm just worried about her hair !

How is this pink achieved.....

Base 10 with a smidge of red additive???

Xx

Ye a tiny drop what ever the colour in the bowl is the colour that will come out xx

There is a thread on here I'm tutorials I think with loads of colour mixes in it - some great ones in it ;)

Ok my friend just wants to go blonde for now. What shall I do? If I give her a full head highlights won't it look funny with the orange in-between? Obviously it will get blonder each time I do it but won't it look funny to start with?

thats what I was thinking!
to get pink, you gotta get the hair white first. Its been correctly pointed out that it will go salmon coloured otherwise.

The pink can be achieved using fudge paintbox, as opposed to red mix in blonde tint. A semi will fade less on bleached hair than a permanent tint due to pigment molecule size. ( semi molecules are larger so grip better when applied to hair that has a compromised cuticle). Also all tints have an element of green in them which oppose the red tone, and give it a greyish pink look.

Personlyy I would test first, then bleach all over, then paintbox pink. If the test strand was stretchy, I would tell her to think again, as she would be taking her pink hair home in a bag.

Do Sallys stock those paintbox colours?? I wouldn't mind trying them :)

not sure. worth googling fudge paintbox? they do a white as well, which is great for mixing with colours to get pastel tones.

Salon supplies is the place to go on Internet they have an intro deal on paintbox, 1 of each colour a mug and a few other bits under a 100 quid :)

Sallys stock rusk and crazy colour semi permanent. I can recommend crazy colour "fire". It starts off bright red pink/ fades to hot pink/ fades to baby pink and that doesnt come out for ages. I dyed my fringe 6 weeks ago with it and the baby pink wont leave. The Rusk colours are good but stain the scalp really badly.
A good trick is that you can bleach the hair up to bright yellow if you can, put the pink over, let it fade and wash out over a month or so (also using purple shampoo and lots of conditioner. The shampoo will tone any bits that start to fade into yellow and provide a good colour transition from pink to white) and if it still isnt light enough do a bleach bath and it should lighten the hair up to pale yellow as well as taking any left over strong colour out.

Fab thanks all :) don't know what I done before finding salon geek :) xx
