Hi. Any help would be appreciated here. My client is a natural base 5/6. After a mad crazy notion she wanted to be blonde She had bleached it up at home a few times and put toners/fanola etc on it but still patchy as u can probably guess. So I’ve had her in salon twice and rebleached it and toned. It’s lovely. But she messages me to tell me she ant get used to being blonde. She wants to go back dark!! Aarrrgghh I had spent over 3 hours on her hair getting it lifted applying a toner and treatment as her hair is so so porus. My question is I use wella and I’m thinking pre pig it then apply colour touch 5/75 as she wants “warm maybe reddish brown” I know as her hair is so knackered if I put koleston on it it will slide off and fade so so quickly. Am I on the right thinking path here? I gave her half a tub of wella brilliance conditioning masque away with her the last time aswell[emoji30]
Thanks in advance xx

Gosh, I really hope you didn’t give her something for free. Some clients really don’t value the work you put in and if you give products away or charge too little, you just reinforce their opinion and their expectations then become ridiculous.

If it’s porous, stick to semis or a quasi and possibly adding extra red base to the mix.

Yes unfortunately I did give her it away for free.....
yes that’s what I thought thank u. Il pre pig it with red 1st I think then apply colour touch 5/75. Or do u think 6/75? Just incase the 5 grabs and goes darker like a 4? I’m probably overthinking this as the client has been a nightmare with her hair so much so when she had txt back and forth I then dreamt about it[emoji30]

It depends on how porous it is. You’re better to be darker in some respects, because it will fade quickly if it’s porous. However, I suspect
that your client might complain that it’s too dark as it’s a big change going from bleached level 9/10 down to a 5.

I think you need to practise your consultations and learn how to manage clients expectations rather than be a slave to their whims. For instance, I never discuss anything hair related via text. Always keep it to when they’re in your chair otherwise clients will text and expect replies at all hours of the day and night. You’re not an emergency service so don’t feel you have to be at their beck and call. Work out some boundaries that you are comfortable with and then stick to them.

Thank u for ur advice. U are so right! I get txts at all times and Sunday’s and they expect a reply. I have got colour touch 6/75 and 5/75 I’m in two minds what to use tho as I know it’s really porous so scared to do the 6 just incase it doesn’t take as well as I would like. Thank u for ur help tho I just needed some reassurance that I was thinking the correct thing with the colour touch apposed to the koleston.

Well as haircutz has said discussing over the phone isn’t good - u will need her to come in and show u what kind of shade does she want because one persons dark brown is another persons light brown!
I’d maybe go in with ur red pigment (that will give u the red shine under it) and maybe a base 6, yes it will wash out or fade out but if she’s difficult she could say I want it lighter in a few weeks! Be easier going lighter from 6!!
But then she could say it’s too light regardless why colour u do as sometimes there’s no pleasing people!!!!
Wishing u all the luck xx

Oh no what a nightmare tell her to come in and take some strand tests so you know exactly how the colour will take , deffo pre pig with a red base first to stop hair going kahki ,tell her to keep using the reconstruction condition to help with the condition throughout all the change in colours

Thank u. I’ve got her booked in for next week. I am def going to pre pig with a red and I’m now thinking il maybe just do the level 6 just incase it does go too dark then that way I’m always a shade lighter lol. Thank u for all the input it’s really appreciated xx

Me again guys I know I’m a pain in the bum. I’ve got this client in first thing tomorrow. I’m prob just overthinking things with her as with any other client I would just carry on and do it but coz of the hassle I’ve had with her I’m stressing out. I’m going to pre pig with a red then apply colour touch. My question is will I still put it on wet hair or will I apply it on dry as im pre pigging it 1st?
Thanx to all in advance xx
