Does anyone have any advice on how I can stop gel lifting? It only lifts the end by the cuticles, it stays on the free edge really well.

I use bio sculpture, I love it but on come clients and sometimes on myself it lifts.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong? If anyone has any idea why this could happen I would really appreciate it.

To me it just sounds like your prep needs a little more work. Lifting usually comes from product on dead or living tissue left on nail plate or improper product application. Perhaps you could give us your steps and we could assist you further. I know when I started using an e-file and cuticle bits I get little to no lifting now..

I think maybe i need to be more thorough with my prep- this is what I do:

Wipe over nails with acetone to remove any polish/ oils
File/shape nails
Buff lightly over nails
Cuticle work- including the bio pink cuticle stone ( sorry forgot what it's called)
Wipe over with scrub fresh
Exec base - just a tiny bit
Prep done

Then I do the base- first coat I do quite thin- maybe I do it too thinly? Then the second smoothing coat - I don't go to the cuticle with the base layer I leave a gap as this is what I was taught. (I do this with both first and second layer of base, although I have watched a bio aplication video and it does take the base coat to the cuticle, especially the first layer so maybe This is where I am going wrong?)

Then I do two or three coats of colour depending on coverage but find most need three. (I don't do the coats too thick I use slight pressure as otherwise I find it's not smooth)

Then the gel coat and top gloss coat.

If you have any tips I would be really grateful.

The clients whose nails lift , do they use any chemicals at home like dishwashing or such ? Are any them pregnant? Are any diabetic? Are any on any form of chronic pain medication? Are any on heart or thyroid Med? I would ask what meds they are but i am not a doc but I do know what causes it.

If none of the above it more likely your prep of the nail or something simple

Leaving a tiny cuticle margin, yes, but a gap, no! This maybe your answer right there! X
