Hi i had a set of gels done last week and was very impressed and i want to buy my own kit to do them myself,, however does anyone know if the light is uv?? (same as sunbeds) just asking cos i have skin cancer and avoid any uv rays thanks Curlys x

I wouldn't advise buying a kit unless you've had training in applying gel nails as it's a difficult skill to master and would be even harder on yourself. You would be better investing in some training first or you'll find the nails wont last and you'll have wasted money xxx

Yeah as the pp said its just not a good idea. People have to do expensive training and practise for months and years to get to a standard of nails they are happy with. When training health and safety is covered in detail. Infact on my enhancements course we did a written exam that you had to pass in order to pass the whole course.
There are risks involved in nail enhancements that when properly trained can be avoided. However in the hands of an untrained person you could end up with overexposure, damaged nails. The list goes on.
If you are interested in doing nails I would wholeheartedly encourage you to start at the beginning. Find a fabulous natural nails course and move on from there. For a really great starting course I would go to Welcome - Sweet Squared and click on training. Cnds natural nails course is fab and really not expensive at all.
If you choose to do that or not please do listen to the advice given in this thread. There is a reason why professional products remain just that and contrary to some peoples beliefs its not just to keep cash in our pockets.
