Hi everyone! I’ve just completed a gel polish course. I’m in the process of buying all the kit but I am looking at the polishes and so confused on which brands are best? As I’m only practicing on people I don’t want to spend big money, the brands I’ve seen are FairyGlo, GDi nails and these are on Ebay. Is this a good idea or should I invest in better? I live alone so all my wages go on rent etc. Or should I just buy one or two better brands and slowly build up a collection over time? Sorry about the long post! X

Take a look at flirties polishes, they are really good and amazing price.

Thank you! I’ll have a look x

Have a look at candy coat, so far I have been really impressed with there polishes!

oh fab thank you! It’s so hard as Im only just starting out and when I google it basically says shellac is the best and you shouldn’t use the cheap ones!, but so expensive isnt it just to get myself started ‍♀️

I know I’m the same I’m just getting back into beauty again but can’t afford £15 a bottle. I have a few shellac colours from when i used it lasts and I’ve found that candy coat lasts the same amount of time and they are £8 a bottle. Shellac is lovely and if I could afford it I wouldn’t invest but atm I am very happy with candy cost and find their product range really fun!

yeah it is so hard setting up the cost just adds up even though I know it will hopefully be worth it!

I’d carefully consider the clientele you want to attract and what they’d expect from you.
It’s a very competitive business and you need to attract repeat custom.
My personal opinion is that clients want a professional service and product, not something they can buy themselves on eBay.
You are also unlikely to be insured unless you buy from an authorised distributor

Go with a professional brand that requires proof of certification in order to purchase. Yes, they'll be pricier, but you'll have professional-only product and the support of the company should you have any questions or encounter any issues.

I use Naio Nails polishes, they are excellent!
