Anyone use a really good gel topcoat over regular nail polish? (on acrylics) i love the IBD topcoats but they crack the polish. Ive had luck with Cuccio gel topcoats as well, but its really hit and miss. It will crinkle over some nails and ruin the polish. (yes, i do thin coats of polish and topcoat) any advice is appreciated ❤

What brand of nail polish are you using? Maybe if that brand does a top coat try that? X

I found the only way to make it work is to let the polish dry completely - but this takes too long and is still hit and miss

Ive used all different brands of polish. Yeah letting it dry completely is not an option, as polish takes 25 hours to completely dry lol. Even then its still hit or miss like you said.

Could you try one of them quick dry sprays? At least the top would be dry, hopefully enough to hold it. The other reason the gel top coat might be struggling is the lack of inhibition layer, going straight onto a lovely shiny polish isn't ideal. Tbh I don't offer plain polish ibd just gel only, I couldn't afford to buy loads of colours in both, and most ppl prefer a gel now anyway imo x

The quick dry sprays I use in a manicure with normal
Polish & I find quite good, ive actually found the sprays in the 99p shop! But I always tell my clients to remember it's not shellac & give it about 20 mins to harden fully!

Leighton Denny now has a new gel top coat that can be cured over the top of ordinary nail polish x

Leighton denny won't ship to me unfortunately

Young Nails Finish top coat is great over regular polish, but I let it dry for a good 20 mins before applying it or you risk 'dragging' the polish.
