Hi all, I'm getting back into the nail biz after a fairly long break. This will prob seem like such a daft question to those who are in the know, but once I have qualified in gel nails can I then mix and match brands etc? Or is it best to chose a brand and specialise in that? I know I need to invest in an led lamp, but will this cure most gel polishes? I have heard of the usual gelish, acg, bio sculpture etc but Ibx is new to me and I understand shellac is a different type of polish to the others? Aargh....minefield!

You need the specific lamp, there isn't a lamp that cures everything. Doug Schoon was writing about this in an article I read recently.

CND shellac is a "power polish", it's for healthy natural nails and comes off in 5 minutes with no buffing.

Great thank you x

No don't mix brands gels products as they made to work together it also doesn't look very professional havin. A mixture of brands and how you marketing yourself as doing or offering gelish nails but using mixed products to carry out the treatment can land you in hot water, mis representation !

Some of my gel products did not cure using my generic lamp or using generic bulbs so best to use all from the same brand you prefer.

To choose which brand you like I suggest going to a salon who offered the product you wish to stock and experience the treatment for yourself. Before investing money on a set brand.

Thanks nail pod, I totally agree. I have had gelish and acg before and really liked both. The reason I asked is the tech I have seen before offered gelish and acg and used the same lamp. Think I got myself confused!! Xx
