Hey everyone, I am fairly new to doing hair & foiling hair for me, def is tough. I work in a salon & every time someone comes in to get their hair foiled they ask me if they can get chunky highlights, like really chunky dramatic highlights. i was told to always just slice hair & i would get the "chunky" effect, but literally everytime I do this it NEVER comes out chunky at all !!!!!
So, I heard of back to back foiling? but not sure of exactly what to do or how many back to back foils i should do ? helllppp !

For chunky highlights I would do thick weaves then leave a gap of natural hair in-between and so on. I don't know why people want chunky looking highlights though! Lol x

It depends on how you want the end result if u want more than one colour ?

I'm not a fan of chunky highlights either, BUT I can appriciate that it is popular in some parts of the world AND back to back foiling is still an important technique to know.

By taking fine slices this allows you to get close to the root, even lift and coverage. If you want to colour a thicker section of hair, take your slices without leaving any hair inbetween the foils.

If you are not sure how many foils to put in for the 'chunk', then part the hair flat so you can visualise how thick you need to make the section.

You can buy different colour foils, you might find this helps you to differentiate between the colours. Maybe also remember how many foils you use in each section e.g. 4.
