Hey Girls,

Any tips on starting up your own business, I finally feel confident enough to start going mobile.

any ideas on what to charge people for shellac?

thanks

Hi lovely!

I'd have a scout around at what others in your area charge & work it out from there, I started out charging £20 which isn't a lot compared to some, but I'm re-starting again after a few months abroad & I'm gonna charge £23 I think plus glitter/nail art etc

What services will you be offering? Xx

I was thinking maybe £15 Maybe I should re think this!... most salons are charging £25+.

I will be doing shellac & glitters.
I also do eyebrow waxing & tint,
& cluster lashes.

I'd say maybe a bit more, I actually started shellac at £18 not £20 come to think of it, and most clients left a tip.

Most people charge for glitter too, like £4 for rockstar or 75p a nail or similar.

Eyebrow waxing totally depends on your location but I charged £6 to start with.
Eyebrow tints £10, Eyelash £15 (both £20) & cluster lashes Around £15-£20 xx

Im deciding on coming back into nails after a long break (4 years baby & health)

I live in east london and the prices for gp start from £12 (nss) to £30 (salons)..

Ill be going mobile but im really struggling to decide what my gp price should be..

£22 or £25

Ive also made a loyalty scheme based on £25

£25 gel manicure
£66 block of 3
£95 block of 5... so this works out at £19

Or should i just stick to £22

Thank you this has really helped.

did you just do a flat rate for shellac for £18? or did you charge more for re shellac?

Your welcome, no just the same, if I was taking off and reapplying it was the same price, shellac removal was £5 & I removed, filed, lightly buffed & applied cuticle oil :)

You make extra with showing your glitters etc on your own nails & Facebook page, so many ladies wanted stamping because I always had it on my nails :) xx

just one more thing... how did you get started, by that I mean how did you bring in new cliental?

Your welcome :)

It's always tricky, I made flyers and went round every single shop in the high street asking if they would take a few, the couple that said no, I asked if they would take one for there staff room so every single shop had them, I'll try find it for you to see...

I also did Facebook competitions, if you don't want to do a free treatment then just do it so the winner gets a % off.
Advertise on netmums, local Facebook groups.

Or even put on the flyers a % off if they show you the flyer.

Then when you've got a couple clients, do an 'introduce a friend' offer for a percentage off or a free treatment.

Hope this helps :) I'll try find the flyer I made to show you xx

This is so helpful!

For mobile do you charge for clients over a certain distance? Or just set a certain area and don't go out to anyone too far?

As I'm close to north London what can be just a couple miles down the road can take ages to travel because of traffic!

I put on the bottom of my price lists mobile visits incur an excess charge.

Maybe work out within a 5 mile radius is x amount, 10 miles x amount & so on, I was quite rural in Scotland (10 miles to the closest shop!) so I didn't charge for the first 10 miles or so but did for the ones further out xx

Told you it sucks! Haha if you want me to forward you the actual document by email so you can use it as a template I can do if you want? Just pm me your email. Then I literally printed them, folded in half and split them with a big sharp knife as I didn't have a guillotine to cut them.

Saves paying silly money for flyers making though :) and you can print off more if needed, then when I'd got a few clients I edited them to leave them after a treatment when I had decided on an offer...(will also leave a pic of that one)

Hope this helps lovely :) x
