Graduated colour techniques

Hi I'm new to this.
Can anyone tell me how to get the style where the roots are dark and the ends get lighter? Graduated colour?

It's called biolage! I do this by colouring the roots darker and take down as far as your client wants! But put the brah on a angle for blending in (if that makes sense) then pick up random sections from the ends of the hair and colour the mid to ends on a angle that's it really! I love doing biolarge it's a excuse to make my work messy haha

i aplologise - was just meaning more info would be on other pages, not to do it yourself
