Hiya, I have a new client who has 75% grey hair. She has about 3 inch of grey roots at the back of her head, and at the front its quite white. The colour she has on the mids and ends is about a 10 and pearly. She would like to go a little darker and quite gold. On grey hair I know 6% is what I should use to cover the grey, but Im still going to be lightening so what do I use? Cant remember, haven't done grey hair on light hair for a while, feel daft asking! I use wella colours. Thanx in advance x

You would still use 6%, as the hair has no pigment in it. I would choose a shade darker to go on the very light front and this in turn, should match the dark grey at the back.

When you say grey at the back, do you mean salt and peppery? Like dark and white mixed? And if so how dark? And what is your target shade? x

Hi, the grey at the back is more like silver going white. She likes the 8.38 in wella colours. Thanx x

Hi there.

You can use the Koleston 8/38 with 20 vols.

Because the hair is grey, make sure you mix the 8/38 with the 8/0 in a 1:1 ratio. If her grey hair is very resistant, use the 88/0 instead of the 8/0

Apply to back sections first on the roots, then the roots on the front sections. I would leave for about 20 mins then apply to the mid lengths and ends. Leave this for another 20 mins then emulsify and rinse.

:)

Thanks a lot for your great advice, very much appreciated xx:hug:
