It depends how ashy she’s wanting to go as ash makes the hair appear darker, you may need to prelighten through the existing toner if she’s still wanting to stay light I’d recommend 9.11 dialight, or 10.12 and the tiniest pinch of base 1 to create a grey tonerHi I’m new to this so please bare with me. I have a client that wants a darkish slate grey colour. At the minute she’s sitting at an ashy beigy colour. All advice appreciated

Ashy beige could mean anything. What level is it at currently?
You have to tone it to neutral first before applying a grey tone.

Can I ask why my post was moved
I’ve posted a wee pic. Any ideas? It depends how ashy she’s wanting to go as ash makes the hair appear darker, you may need to prelighten through the existing toner if she’s still wanting to stay light I’d recommend 9.11 dialight, or 10.12 and the tiniest pinch of base 1 to create a grey toner
ive posted a wee pic. It’s not a bad colour just abit of a green tinge. I don’t want to start pre lighting it again at this stage. To me it looks quite dark in that photo around a base 4 is she wanting to stay on that base but just give it a more flat and ashy tone? What have you used on it previously?I’ve posted a wee pic. Any ideas?

Thanks for your reply. It’s around a base 5 she wants to keep it round that base and yes give it a more ashy tone. It’s been pre lightened twice and then igola dove grey with 10To me it looks quite dark in that photo around a base 4 is she wanting to stay on that base but just give it a more flat and ashy tone? How well did it lift ? Did it just lift to the red stage to the orange stage or did it lift well up to the yellow stage ? Depending on how well it lifted you should have used the corresponding toner to neutralise.. if it lifted to red you should of used a green based toner , if it lifted orange you should of used a blue base toner and if it lifted yellow you should of used a purple based toner. I don’t personally use igola toners I’m only familiar with L’Oréal pro, I think the problem is that it’s been over toned so I’d try the take the toner out using a clarifying shampoo if she doesn’t want to prelighten again and then see if you can neutralise to an ash colour once the current toner has faded out. I hope this helps xThanks for your reply. It’s around a base 5 she wants to keep it round that base and yes give it a more ashy tone. It’s been pre lightened twice and then igola dove grey with 10
If she's happy with the depth I'd just add a violet toner over the top , most grey colours are blue based, if she was a base 9 before toning the underlying pigment is yellow.Hi I’ve posted before but I can’t find it. I bleached the hair to a clean 9 and applied dove grey but it’s very greeny and mucky any ideas on how to correct this. Thanks
Do you know if this is available in Sally’s. Your theory sounds spot on but I need to be able to get it from Sally’sIf she's happy with the depth I'd just add a violet toner over the top , most grey colours are blue based, if she was a base 9 before toning the underlying pigment is yellow.
Yellow +blue/grey = green
So now you have green, you need violet to - yellow = blue /grey
I would highly recommend the Kenra 5 minute rapid toner in violet! It's amazing ! For blonde shades you only leave it one for 5 mins!!
But I'd try 10 mins for the colour you're doing. Hope you find this helpful.
