Hi, just wondering if anyone was using groupon or wowcher to get new clients? i just started having zero clients..acrylics and manicure deals for nearly free of charge sounds desperate isn't it? Good or bad idea? thanks!

There are previous threads about Groupon, general consensus was it wasn't the best way to gain clients, usually you end up with the bargain hunters who never come back, you lose a massive proportion to Groupon in fees. You'd be better spending the money you'd pay in fees on advertising, promotions, raffles, model price sets, etc.

I agree with Trinity, it’s not a good idea to get clients that way. I was told by a good friend and fellow nail tech years ago that you never discount your services, only retail. And that’s been my staple ever since and it gains respect for your service and from your clients. However you might consider since you are new to do a training price or get a few of the “right” clients with a big mouth and good connections and give them a sample service and explain to them your starting up and you want to spread the word. Not to many, the golden rule is 1-3 so you don’t start loosing money. They can spread around about you and showcase your work. Just remember to explain that you are sampling the work on them and so you won’t get people knocking on your doors for free service. Make a menu with a price that works for your expenses and your level of training and give yourself an increase annually as your skills grow. You will have a steady client base and on your way to making good money sooner than you think. So never give yourself out as a discounted service. It does not send the right message to new clients.
