Hi guys,

I had a woman come into my salon yesterday, she was going at 100 mph, and certainly wasn't wanting to listen to the advice of a lowley Nail Technician.

She had had her nails done in London for the past year, (and bless the last Tech she had), she showed me her nails and said if i was to come to you would you make them like this - The nails were as thick as bricks on her fingers! - I said well no I would make them thin, natural and strong for her.

This question was obviously a trick question as she went off on one, saying that she had demanded that her tech do them as thick as possible, infact she would rather them thicker as when they are thin they always break and she has to have them repaired every few days - of course they just "fall off".

I explained as that just because the Acrylic is thick doesn't make it strong, infact often they come off even easier. She was having none of it and was so rude talking over me and so forth.

Anyway she asked for an infill, I had to refuse this as it would have taken me over 4 hours the amount of filling involved, also it had been four weeks since her last infill!

I said that recomended time is two weeks etc... She shoved her paws under my nose and said these have been four weeks and they are fantastic, I have only had to SUPER GLUE four back on. What a joke. At this point I thought I do not want this client a) because she is a know all and b) if she did break a nail you would never hear the end of it and c) I wouldn't want bricks going out of the salon for all to see.

She insulted my prices for a full set and then almost fainted when I said she would have to pay for removal as they were not my nails. She still went ahead to book for a removal (this evening) and then a new set on Saturday.

I thought I really dont want to deal with this woman, but was ready for her attack tonight. Any way she didn't turn up, I call her 30 mins later and with no apology she said that she'd forgot. I was so anoyed I told her that I had cancelled her Saturday appointment, as I could not afford for her to NO SHOW again. Well her responce was none to savory and she slammed the phone down.

I felt really crap after that, but am glad that it turned out how it did. You just don't need people like that for clients. No concern for me staying late when she is at home with her family.

Anyway to cut a long story short, whilst on the phone to her, my best client came in with a huge bouque of 40 roses for me. The card said Gina, thanks for putting some sparkle into my week, and making my nails so fantastic. I was so emotionally drained that it just made me cry.

What a nice thing to do. I wish they could all be as nice as Paula.

Point of the matter, it's nice to be apreciated. Sorry to go on a bit but I felt so touched by her gesture, when another client clearly didn't give a s&*t.

Did i do the right thing?

Well done for being strong with the hideous client from hell - you know you've made the best decision

And Bless your client for sending flowers - one little gesture of pure appreciation makes up for all the crap from elsewhere

Put your flowers in the most promenient (sp) place for everyone to see, and I guarantee every time you look at them you will have a little smile to yourself

Give yourself a pat on the back :green:

Hi Gina,

Yes, you so did the right thing!! Some people can be really awful

Good on your client...there are some lovely one's out there and I think it's fair to say that the good outweigh the bad :D

Enjoy your flowers :D

YES! Id say you're well rid there!

she isnt worth doing nails for. I hate it when a rude client tells you how to do your job!

Very lucky girl with the flowers if only more clients were like the flower lady, and not the brickie!

I'm sorry this "lady" treated you so terribly, but thank God you got rid of her.
Some clients ruin it for themselves, but it's ok because you really didn't need her. She can be someone else's headache.
I can just imagine how thick and ugly those nails were!
Ugh!
Congrats for the roses!!

YES....................................well done you.

Sometimes it just aint worth it....

and nice gesture from a client your dedication must shine throuhg

Good Idea! Make sure the card's there so everyone knows just how great your nails are! The timing couldn't have been better, eh?!

I really think you did the right thing, sounds like you were polite and firm, she'll go on to be a nightmare client for someone else (hopefully not one of us on here !!!)

Congrat's on the flowers - you really must be providing an excellent service !!!

Thanks guys!

You know yourself when you deal with a confrontational situation that it is difficult, the worst thing is the aftermath when you start wondering did you do the right thing.

Thanks for your kind reply's, I do feel sain once again.

A client came in today and saw my rose's to which I gave an explaination. After my service off she went. 30 mins later she returned with a Danish pastry for both me and my mum (receptionist). How nice, it must be my week!

Thanks again guys
