Hi peeps, iv just popped over from nails...my mum has an underactive thyroid an is loosing her hair by the handful which is resulting in balding spots. She is only 50 and LOVES her hair She has only just this week started her medication an I was wondering if there was anything you could recommend for her to help with the hair loss. She is very close to jut cutting it all off :(

firstly, Im sorry your mum is poorly. Thyroid problems are horrible
They are very troublesome when it comes to hair. Cutting it all off wont stop the thinning, but may help with disguising it.
I would reccommend getting a course of Aminexl. Redken do a range called intra force. It comes in little glass bottles which you apply to the scalp, rub in and leave in.
It does work ive used it myself, but there are no garauntees, and its about £100. It may also take a little time before she notices a difference.
For a more cosmetic solution, theres a product called supermillion hair. Its tiny fibres you shake on the the roots that give the appearance of thicker hair. Its about £45 for a trial pack so worth a shot.
Hope that helps
xxxx
