Hi, I'm using consumer query as It was a general query.

So i'm quite a dark natural base colour, but I've always had my hair lightened with a highlights/toner.

My hairdresser said it is in good condition now (as it was damaged 6/7m ago) but yey back to good condition :)

Anyways, it still dont feel like it used 2 before damage. Im worried i may have changed the structure of it, now its finer, not as thick or as long as still seems a little dryer.
Any suggestions ? Will it go back to how it was when my own hair grows back through and it was never dry or damaged ?

Thanks in advance Geeks + Pros x

During 6-7 months your hair will have grown around 8-9 cm, so the top 8-9 cm will be healthy (provided you haven't used chemicals on it) but the remaining length of the hair is still as damaged as it was, (regardless of if it "feels" ok) only cutting it off will get rid of the damage, the hair is only damaged on the bleached parts tho, you wouldn't have changed the structure of what comes new out of your head, I'd suggest you have a mega cut on it if you want it to all be nice again, it will soon grow back :) take a look at your diet (that can affect hair) and the products you use (get the right stuff for your hair type) also look at your lifestyle (stress/hormones can change hairs texture somewhat) so I'd suggest a massive chop of all the damaged hair & eat well & if possible lay off the chemicals!

I used to have a white pixie which I grew to a long bob (still white blonde) grew past my shoulders & changed to brown, my hair was always really dry thin and really damaged looking it had no life at all, so I chopped it back off again grew out the brown colour and had my natural hair for a few months, the difference was amazing! It feels thick and healthy, I've gone back white blonde again now but have used a new product which dosent damage the hair at all so now I can be blonde and have nice hair :) just gotta wait for it to grow again now! Lol

Thanks Kahuna for reply :)
My top half has been highlighted + toned. I have about 1 inch (maybe bit less regrowth), I've been having so much off before like 4/5 inches, then had less last time bout 3 if I can remember correctly.

I think my diet may play a part in it tbh, I mean I do love a good bit of meat (no pun intended) I love chicken, tuna, steaks all with protein. It's my veg I don't get that much of. I've always thought it could be caffeine, I'm sure I read somewhere too much caffeine can block good nutrients + vitamins ?

I love long hair, I originally had around 18' of my own hair + was told there was a lot of it! but now not as much. Since having it stripped a year ago it really went downhill from there as I went red + changed my mind back to blonde. (Yes I'm the awkward customer that likes a change alot lol) i had it basically all chopped to shoulder length. Now Its about 14'/15', think I may need to grow out, but how can I do that with noticeable highlights (full head) x

If you'll consider growing it out maybe an ombre could be the thing for you? Have the root colour done as near to your natural as possible and pulled through as far down as you'd like, you could even get a bit of balyage around the front just to keep a bit of blonde dimension going on so it's not such a shock, the ends will still be knackered tho untill their all cut off, the product I use is called silk lift, maybe if you found a salon that uses that you wouldn't even have to say goodbye to the highlights ;) I'm white blonde from it and my hairs as strong as it was natural brown

I cba with healthy eating so I'm no one to preach lol but it can affect your hair, (love the non pun too 😂)

Stripping and changing colours is extremely harsh for your hair so maybe ombre is a good idea
