When I get my hair coloured I'm always left with a band of red hair dye round my head and in my ears, it takes a few days of me washing my hair so I don't look silly! Is this something that just can't be helped or could it be done better?

your hairdresser should use a barier cream round your hairline skin and ears and really rinse well before shampooing. this should minimise the chance of skin staining. obviously these things can happen but i wouldnt be happy if it was every time!!! hth xox

I thought that! It's really awkward as she's a good friend of mine, I've known her 20yrs! I've said on numerous occasions that I'm going out that night and could they try no to stain my head lol
She does my hair for a bit cheaper than normal so I guess it's worth putting up with it for that reason.
Maybe next time I'll be brave and ask for a barrier cream to be used as I'm going somewhere really special lol
Thanks for replying xx

Hi,Lacy,if you want to remove the red colour around your head ,ears and your neck , the best thing to use is Vaseline (pure petroleum jelly ) it really works. Before starting to colour your hair , you or your hairdresser can put Vaseline ( pure petroleum jelly ) a good amount ,so it does not get completely absorbed .After you wash your hair , you can wash your face , ears and neck with soap and fiber which is specially for the face.I hope i helped

You can also get wipes from the chemist that are specifically designed to remove hair dye from skin. I used to use them when I dyed my hair myself. They're fab.

Thanks geeks xx

Get yourself down to Sallys and get some stain remover!

Smells like vodka, but works a treat. Dab some on your skin with a cotton wool pad, and it should remove most of the colour.

Use it in moderation though :)
