Just wondering if any hair geeks can give me a bit of advice, I have my hair coloured professionally but I find every time I wash it I see quite a lot of colour coming out, Is this normal? I use Paul Mitchell smoothing shampoo and conditioner at the min but I have used a few different ones and had the same problem, should I look at changing my shampoo or is it just my hair? :(
x

It all depends on what colour you're having it coloured, and possibly by what brand or Base colour you are naturally.

If you're have Reds applied they can fade very quickly. If you're a natural Blonde, your hairdressers may not be pigmenting your hair correctly.

It could even be a cheaper colour brand she's using....so many solutions but not much info to go on :)

What is your Base natural colour?
What colour are you having applied?
Is your hair dry, porous and over processed?

Thanks for your reply :) I'm useless when it comes to hair sorry!
It's an Aveda colour I have had applied, the colour is very similar to my own which is a medium/dark brown but my previous hairdresser used to apply home colours which had a lot of red in them so we're working to get rid of that, my hairdresser did say my hair is quite pours on the ends and it has been a bit dry, could that be what's causing it?

If your hair is dry and pourus colour will fade quickly as the cuticles are are damaged so the colour will just wash out as there is nothing to hold it in.

I don't know anything about Aveda colours I'm afraid so can't advise on quality x

Oh right thank you I never realised it could have that effect, are there any products you could recommend to get it in better condition so the colour will last please? :)

I personally love Philip Kingsley, bur others may have their own favourites

Also keep your ends trimmed regularly and lay off any heat. Straighteners, tongs if you use them. These will dry hair our quicker than anything

Aveda do a range for damaged hair called damage remedy it has quinoa in it so will help add protein back into your hair, they also do a semi permanent shampoo and conditioner range if you say your hair is a brown colour I would get the clove conditioner you only need to use it once a week leave it on for about 10 minutes it will freshen up your colour and it is completely natural too just remember to wear gloves as they can look a bit tangoed, hope that helps x

Snip, snip, snipe those ends! And condition like there's no tomorrow!
