I seen a tweet yesterday from the Birchbox account that was briefly explaining "hair contouring", now I know we are all familiar with face contouring but I'd never heard of doing it with hair.

Apparently it entails highlights around the face (with a hairstyle that also compliments) depending on your face shape, to best suit your bone structure(?).

So I was wondering is this actually a thing, can it really make that much impact or is it just jumping on the contouring bandwagon so to speak.

This is the image from the tweet, TIA 😊

Just sounds like an interpretation of Balayage :) hth

I thought it might be something that's already about, I suppose they just give new names to techniques that already exist to catch people's attention:), thanks for the reply

Another fancy term for getting a tailored, unique style via cut/color or both.....every time you go see a stylist your "style" should be as unique just like each person is. Different features, coloration,& skull/facial structure etc is unique to each person so an enhancing or hi-liting of a feature(s) is employed by a good stylist to enhance the desired look.

I do this with strategically placed, formulated color & a lot of cutting detailing/slicing etc. typically done around the fringe.

Ah right I see, so rather than it being a "one style suits all" technique it's more of an individual thing depending on that particular person.

Thanks for that 😊
